My local AD won't even put me on their waiting list!

Don't fancy paying over retail...

I was told that the best chance i have is to randomly find one at an airport as they do not operate waiting lists.

Does anyone here know of a way to potentially get one at retail this year?

Is there some kind of "watch broker" who can ring around contacts/ADs to get one?

I'd also like the 50th anniversary sea dweller but same issue!

Sadly I think that you have little to no chance of finding one for retail price. Rare to come up for sale and the only one that I have seen for a while was on TZ forum yesterday. To give you an indication it was new and unworn, stainless and priced at 13k. It sold in within 22 minutes of listing, as you know retail is 9k, such is the pull of that model at present.

Seems there's quite a premium on these, however they are bloody lovely.

Unfortunately I think the only way of getting these is if you are VERY regular customer and OFTEN buy expensive but not particularly popular watches!

Basically you help them shift expensive stuff that isn`t that easy to shift and eventually you get "pay back"

I`ve heard lots of stories about people buying stuff that they don`t want and then sell on at a loss in order to get a Daytona because it works out cheaper than the grey premium!

Fly to Bangkok, they are available from all the Rolex dealers, as is the 50th SD.

I agree with the post about being a regular customer of your AD, without a track record of Tudor and Rolex and having a relationship you will struggle. Rolex are supposedly clamping down on regular customers flipping as well, once you do it, you won't get another watch. They are also holding onto papers to stop this.

Thanks i think you had given me that tip in an earlier "what watch are you buying in 2017" thread.

I did give it a try, called them yesterday and they said 4 year waiting list and won't take new customers at this point!

And the most important question... white or black dial...?

Some retailers will insist on keeping the warranty card for 6 months, and removing all the protective stickers before handing the watch over. The idea is to curb flippers from selling the watch BNIB immediately after purchase

I find this so frustrating as I want a 50th SD. Unfortunately my local AD isn't an AD anymore so any loyalty I'd built up is now useless, I've even gone as far as to ring every AD in the Philippines (I have a house there too) and even they have a 4 year waiting list.

They have no right to do that and I don't believe ANY AD would do that if you asked them not to. Internet rumour. Sad!

I bought a D blue a year or so back in Jersey and they removed all the stickers! To be honest I'm a watch flipper and I would have argued the toss with them but I was having it for myself so it wasn't that much of a problem to me,but that said once you have paid for the watch its your property and I don't think it's any of the dealers business what you do with it after you've bought it! What do they care, there not loosing out,it's only the people that can't get them that moan about it! I've said this before on here if you put the work in you will get the watch. From what I hear from a few AD,s I know is there are a lot of dreamers that put there name down and can't afford the watch anyway! Maybe if people can't afford to pay overs buy something you can afford until the watch you really want comes along? Shame really as I've already had and sold three Daytona's and a 50th Sea Dweller this year! BLOODY FLIPPERS! This is all being said in a light hearted way not trying to be mean!

You are wrong, it has happened. If you were a member of TZ-UK you could read all about it.
