Torquay to Scotland road trip
Discussion
Hello PH'ers, long time lurker (so long I've forgotten the password and made a new account) and first time poster.
I'm planning a road trip from Torquay to Scotland for the first week of October with Mrs JacobsCracker and have no idea where we want to go! We have picked out Glenn Coe, Fort William and Loch Lomond as likely destinations. We will be staying for 5 nights and want to see all the best scenery and places possible.
Any recommendations of where to go or stay? And most importantly for PH, what roads "must" I drive? This is a once in a long time trip so I want to drive any of the "must do before you die" roads up there.
Just to clarify, we are travelling as directly as possible to Scotland so all ideas for Scotland only, please!

The old military road (see EVO video) and the west part of the NC500.
Cheers.
All of the places he mentioned are on the west side whereas the A939 (EVO video) is on t'other.Cheers.
Also you've got to go a long way beyond Fort William to reach any part of the NC500.
He hasn't give us much clue about how far north he is prepared to go.
If must do before you die roads are a priority then definitely the A93/B976/A939.
A87 Invergarry to Dornie (Eilean Donan Castle) or Kyle of Lochalsh is good too.
Plenty more to choose from if you have the time and are willing to go the distance.
OP I know it's a huge thread but you really should be looking at this.

Do you have your first night's stop in Scotland arranged yet?
Just stick to the west coast and you can't go wrong.
These were all taken either on the west coast or in the Hebrides.

Agree with the above just stick to the west coast and you can't go wrong. What about a CalMac island hopscotch ticket and do a few islands?
I can't wait for my 2 weeks on Mull in October.
