Sorry my mistake, Chinese whispers. It’s the next light controlled roundabout north from m25 where they have gone. Doesn’t seem like a good idea all the same.
That'll be the Tadworth roundabout then ,that usually has queuing on A217 north and southbound at peak times.

With 5 roads on/off it ,the lights work quite well most of the time.

Also sounds nonsensical.....confused

Kingswood roundabout traffic lights are missing, gone entirely. Causing problems for the timid pulling out.

I hear they have removed the roundabout traffic lights, not switched off removed, at the 217 / m25 junction. Was carnage this morning apparently.
WTF is the point of that ?

I don't usually go through there at peak times .

The first roundabout with traffic lights North from the M25 is Tadworth. Are you sure? If they have, that's crazy!

See post above that confirms it.

I last went round it on Sunday at 5pm and all was normal.

Going through here tomorrow morning so will take a look and what not. Sounds mental!

Must be temporary surely? Bloody busy place to take them away!

Yup. Children’s trust, tadworth roundsbout lights gone.

Problem seems to be that with the 40 average speed there is a steady stream of traffic making pulling out tricky.

There will be a few crashes imo while people get used to it. No idea why they didn’t just turn the lights off rather than remove them.

Poles are still there apparently just the light boxes gone.

Could be a new system going in I guess but there is no signage advising the current change at all. Lots of confused commuters.

I did wonder what they'd do about the traffic lights. If you were being stopped a few times down there you could easily make progress between lights and cameras etc... Perhaps a new system is going in that links everything together.

I wouldn't have believed it myself but I needed a pint of milk so went and had a look. What a mess. Multiple speed limit signs, no end of works signs to communicate normal speed limits resume and now no traffic lights. Some poles remain, some completely missing.

Certainly going to be a fair number of crashes there, especially as there's no signage to say they're gone.

Queue coming North from M25 junction looked very long this morning at the Tadworth roundabout. The average brain dead commuter is really going to struggle without the red and green to guide them. And the "timid" as you suggest yikes

The Kingswood SUV crowd will just pull out no doubt tank

Hi all, I can confirm that the traffic lights have gone from the Tadworth roundabout, and it seems as they like to move the temp. lights about, as Saturday, they had temp. lights located at the exit just past Children's trust and then when I went through tonight, they were gone.

Also, I know it's been discussed previously, but I just wanted to get a definitive answer - what's going on with the cameras in regarded to the 20mph limit? I have tried to go through that section at 20mph and honestly, it's nigh-on impossible. I tried it last night and even when I dropped to just below 30mph, I had people charging up behind me and the look in the driver's face behind me said it all... I felt like a right idiot slowing down when it was clear in front of me. I couldn't slow down anymore, otherwise he would have gone in to the back of me...

Because of this, I plan not to go that way home for the time being, I'll go via Tadworth and Epsom Downs instead. Yes, it's a ballache, but I'd rather do that then go through the anxiety of trying to go at 20mph and have half of the A217 mentally (and physically) shake their fists at me.

I'm now concerned that I'm going to get a ticket, which is worrying as I can't really afford to get points on my license because I need it as squeaky clean as possible as I review cars.

The lights at Tadworth are being replaced. As you say, there's currently temp lights on some of the exits but not all of them. I'm unsure if they will replace all the lights or some as the planning Docs say 'Renew' but don't specify anything else.

A few of us have spoken to Surrey CC and their replies have been less than satisfactory regarding speed limits.

I had an email from Surrey CC on November 14th which said "I have spoken to the engineer behind these works and he has confirmed that the cameras are not yet live. We expect them to go live within the next few weeks, but we don’t yet have a precise date. They will not be activated while there are any temporary speed limits that are not 40 mph. They will only enforce the 40 mph speed limit. " I take that to mean that whilst there are roadworks, the average speed cameras are not switched on. I'm also told that they cannot have the Average Cameras and normal speed cameras on the same stretch of road and I've seen the mobile speed van a few times which would tell me the average cameras are not on yet.

Going Southbound (Banstead to M25) I don't stick to the 30 limit through the roadworks at all. I do 40 if possible. They've not bothered to remove or cover the existing 40 signs. Going Northbound (M25 to Banstead) I do 20 through the roadworks as those are correctly signposted now after much complaint!

Doing 30mph in the Southbound section hasn't been a problem for me, because thankfully the traffic has been a bit thick, but yeah, doing 20mph northbound is a nightmare!

It really is a Joke,
Going northbound from Burgh heath to Garratts lane (by Trust Ford) Its signposted 20mph! the 40mph signs have now been covered over.
I do 20mph in my Van all the way. You should see the queue behind me!
Then when I get into the RH Lane to turn right into banstead ALL other drivers speed past me!

This to me shows that all the other drivers don't give a rats arse about Speeding and Points!

I saw a sign tonight just after Asda in Burgh Heath which had on it that the Average speed cameras will be going live on 18th December

This morning @ 5:30 passed the illuminated sign after M25 exit going north which confirms average cameras active from 18th December.
As there are sections which have 40 and 20 signs it would be difficult for the cameras to calculate the average for that section so I presume each section is checking for 40 and the 20 signs are not electronically enforced.
However I'll will adhere to the 20 limits and ignore the tail gaiters.
The end result just shows how badly the communication between council, contractors and police has been in minimizing the confusion to the tax paying motorist. I lay most of this with the council who should have project managed this like a real company. Too many people on the gravy train and not answerable to anybody except the next one up who is also on the train.
Finally how long does it take to construct a pedestrian crossing? The 30mph bottleneck going south is constant as you pass all those works cabins. Too much HSSE I think.

Doesn't make any sense because Surrey CC said they wouldn't be turning the cameras on until the temporary limits were removed. Surrey CC also said they will only enforce 40mph.

The new pedestrian crossing isn't due to finish until March 2018, perhaps they're going to remove all the reduced speed limits even whilst roadworks are ongoing.

I drove up the A217 from Reigate to Banstead the other evening, it really is now the most frustrating dreary road to be on (especially when its empty). I spent most of my time constantly trying to attain 39mph then when I got to Burgh Heath slowed to 19mph frown
Really irate motorists behind me,
I expect this to be a massive cash making machine when it goes live. (if its not already).
