What are the best roads in Hertfordshire for driving fast?

Hi all,
I have just bought my first car, a used Golf GTI 1.8 turbo and I am excited to drive it with safety and common courtesy in mind. Following that, I'd like to play with my new car and get a feel for its function, when putting my foot down and moving off quickly.
It would be fun to experiment with the 0-60 and ideally, I'd find an open stretch of runway at an unused airport for that. Not too many of those around but if there are any good, uncrowded roads roads in the Hertfordshire area what would you more experienced drivers suggest?
