Hi

I’ve recently changed jobs from driving for a living to mostly walking and miss driving all the time. To that end I plan on going for a couple of hours drive this Sunday morning just for the pure pleasure.
Has anyone any suggestions of a nice drive in the southern hampshire region (I live in Fareham) that ideally has a nice coffee stop halfway through?
Ideally a nice mix of A and B roads with decent scenery.

Cheers
Andy

Or vice-versa.

Haven't been to The Ship for quite some time.
However they definitely served coffee back then.
Check first though.

If you look at the South Coast section in the forums there is a monthly PH gathering for a drive and breakfast. All the information is in the thread. I believe there is a run booked for this Sunday 22/7/2018, see you there.

Yeah what he said, I'll be there again. Normally an excellent choice of roads and a brilliant bunch of true enthusiasts with no idiocy.

However if this isn't for you my go to joining route is as follows.

Start newbury speen. Head to hungerford using a4. From hungerford go to wantage direct. I cannot remember the name of the road but it takes you through great shefford. Once in wantage return to newbury using b4494. Head back out towards hungerford but this time using b4000. It more or less runs parallel to the a4. Once in hungerford go up the high street and head out towards Salisbury on the a338. About 30ish miles out on the a338 take a left at a roundabout wich takes you past thruxton circuit about 5 miles after the roundabout. From there a short dash along the 303 and go back through Andover. Pick up the a343 back to newbury via hurstbourne tarrant. Once back in newbury a blast along the a339 is optional. If you do the a339 is lovely after Basingstoke. After you get to alton on The 339 The a32 is brilliant as is a272 for the most part.

Hope some of that is useful.

Thanks for this but I’m a bit of a loner and would rather go for a drive on my own, at my own pace etc. Definitely one to think about in the future though.

Again many thanks, will use your recommendation in the future, as I said I’m not one for going out in a group so will probably not join the breakfast run.

It's a nice area. There are often a lot of bikers heading to the Loomie Café at Meon Hut from Wickham area, + A272 ,so many plods at the 30/40 limits, often at Corhampton and Droxford.

Up to you obviously, it is an great group of enthusiasts and very welcoming. We do drive at a considerable rate of knots at times whether that is good or bad for you I don't know.

I second this. Absolutely one of y favourite runs when I was living in Didcot. A great mix of roads and generally fairly quiet.
