I wonder if you guys can help me?

My partner has suggested that I approach this roundabout incorrectly as I approach from the left hand lane and turn right, however there is 2 lanes off right so surely how I have suggested is acceptable? There is no lane markings on approach however the left hand lane continues around the island to the right.

Thanks

Use the green line.

Isn't this obvious ?

The M1 J27 is confusing. (North bound)

The overhead signage clearly shows both lanes are OK for right turn (third exit). I seldom do this though as nobody seems to be expecting it.

In this instance left is a very minor village road, and straight on is back on same road. I cannot believe they have 1 lane just for the minor road while theres a queue of 10-15 cars waiting to turn right.

On the face of it, I would take the green line. It looks like the first exit is being developed as a business/retail park, so that will no longer stay a minor road.

Me too. Less chance of an incident due to people not expecting you to go right round.

I think I recognise this roundabout, actually...

I think the blue lane is technically ok, but there's something to be said in favour of taking the green line to avoid confusion.

Ha, ha. Yes, I remember that clip, a good reason to take the conventional route.

You'd think so but there are a few roundabouts round my way where the road marking is unclear and if you do it people get their panties all in a bunch.

Well the key is unless signs indicate to the contrary it's right hand lane to go anywhere but left or straight on.
Highway code is pretty clear so most people will not expect this.

When taking an exit to the right or going full circle, unless signs or markings indicate otherwise signal right and approach in the right-hand lane keep to the right on the roundabout until you need to change lanes to exit the roundabout
Also users already on the roundabout will have to deal with cars sitting in the outside lane all around if they want to leave by the first or second exit.
