Hello all!

Next year I'll be buying the FK8, and unfortunately, it needs superunleaded (As far as I'm aware.) The first thing I'm doing after running the car in is driving straight up to Scotland and doing the NC500 with some mates.

Now I'm aware that if a car needs super unleaded, you should probably give it superunleaded to avoid pre-detonation, but, I'm pretty sure there are not many places at the north of Scotland that will sell it. If it's absolutely impossible, will octane boosters do the job?

Also, any tips for the journey? We're going to take it quite steady and enjoy the drive, any places/ roads that are a must?

Cheers,

You won't have any problem getting super unleaded as you go around. Garages around the route are used to seeing quite a lot of exotic machinery on a daily basis.

It's all spectacular. Road across the top, going east to west just gets better and better.

I don't think there is any Super Unleaded available between Thurso (maybe Wick) and Ullapool.

It's about 170 miles, so depending on consumption you may not need to worry, or you may need to carry spare fuel.

Been up three times this year in my FK8, you are fine for super up there but it is fine on normal, if you are new to the car it does tend to go through fuel quite quickly when on it and with a small tank it is worth putting a bit of thought into your journey.
