My first car - "Like a Golf, Not a Golf, but a Hatchback"
Discussion
Just wanted to add, if it is anything like the Panda then watch out for the understeer even on decent rubber. I may have understeered out of a roundabout once, luckily it was the exit I wanted so I just pretended it never happened (The Parents didn't seem to notice the fact that I was still steering while we were going in a straight line.)

Dont have to rush into it Jay, i waited until i got the funds sorted and looked at loads of cars, get as much info on each car your interested in, look at potential pitfalls and test drive a few cars, if you test drive something which was not what you expected, test drive another example. I looked at a Yellow Punto Sporting, 53 plate and was awful, cosmetically and felt horrid to drive, mine was a lot better and only £300 more.
Very good advice! It is just killing me inside at the moment that I am not on the road by myself so I want any car, but at the same time I have had a few suprise expenses to cover (non car related) and my wage isn't great which makes saving for a car very hard. Oh well, enough of my woes. I think it mainly down to everyone around me is getting new(er) cars aswell.
Enjoy your Punto though, it looks a very decent example. Apologies for any thread hi-jack.

Bad times Where are you working now then? And what's this bun fight you've started over a Fiesta ST rep?
Im in stourport now doing, not painting cars anymore though What are you doing these days? haha, I got a fez the other week on the cheap and wanted to make it into an ST rep just wanted to know if the parts were bolt on bolt off from the ST onto mine but was quickly informed it was a stupid idea because I am stupid for not buying an MG because the 1.4 ZR is the fastest thing in the world and much more reliable that the fiesta. Bunch of dildos. That was what the bun fight was over

Nicely done, not bad at all those TDCIs, plenty of torque! You do get alot of that on here, mostly me telling everyone to buy BMW M cars . I'm still at uni in Oxford mate, back for Summer next week so will hopefully be pinching the keys to the Punto and finding and appropriate hedge to go backwards through!

Great first car - I had a 1.2 Sporting as my first car in 2003.
Aside from the small problem of the six speed box disintegrating, it was a fab car. I was genuinely gutted when I sold it.
Mine makes a crunch when selecting reverse, i find selecting 5th then 6th then reverse cures this problem. Never thrash it and try snap changes, i dont have the funds to pay for it if it fks me over big time.Aside from the small problem of the six speed box disintegrating, it was a fab car. I was genuinely gutted when I sold it.

Ahh, my 1.2 Sporting was from late 2004 and only had a 5 speed, so maybe it was a bit of a weak point and they replaced it? I was always surprised at that engine the way it was a 1.2 16v I expected it to be quite revvy, but it had a slug of torque at about 3200rpm and was all out of puff by 5500! So 6 months down the line, 3600 miles covered (i do not use the car in the week, walk to work which is only 5 mins from home), the Punto is behaving well, had 2 repairs, oil seals for the drive shafts and a new bonnet cable. Overall, i am really happy with the car and enjoying driving. Here is a pic of her with a couple of new friends
