I must say, that's the first time I've heard anyone describe an S2K as numb and uncommunicative. Are you sure you didn't have a lemon?
Nearly every review I read described the S2k as numb and uncommunicative, at least steering and chassis wise??

Later versions a lot more highly regarded, but still not able to hold a candle to the likes of the Boxster for feedback according to the likes of Evo et al.

Quick 2 second search turns up the Evo review, for example:

The S2000 is very polished in some areas. The pedals felt great, brakes were strong, probably up there with the best for performance and feel, the gearbox wonderfully precise and quick, the drivetrain tight. All of these things gave the impression that a lot of attention had been paid to giving the S2000 a precision-engineered feel. Which probably made the woolly steering feel worse than it really was.

Not bashing the OPs car BTW, I still quite fancy one for a while if I ever end up selling the Elise for good.

I've not driven a boxter so can't really comment on those. I thought about one instead but don't really like the looks.

I am coming from a Saab 9-5 aero barge though so this feels very different to me and IMO better than any of the MX5s I have driven.
