well those posts had me trawling the internet for hours, my missus was even happier
I do feel in a less risky situation,ignoring the SLC debarcle as i can only base it on what ive read. My stand point is I chose not to have a turnkey kitcar from outside the UK for 2 reasons;
1. I wanted to build it myself
2. I dont believe most foreign kitcar manufacturers can meet UK regs unless doing it day in day out and if it didnt meet it once the car was here, what then.
The reason being is, they are a business they need to get orders in cars out, as a home builder I can take my time and double checke everything. So in this case it will be down to me to make this car IVA compliant. Yes ill need to alter slight things to the cars original design / build but nothing I cant deal with.
If i get it through first time ill be over the moon, but im expecting to come out with some minor changes required like most builds, built in the UK.
sounds reasonable to me - happy Mrs is always a bonus I do feel in a less risky situation,ignoring the SLC debarcle as i can only base it on what ive read. My stand point is I chose not to have a turnkey kitcar from outside the UK for 2 reasons;

Sorry to bring up the unspoken but with anyone selling a dream to the public, can if they are of that state of mind, become a successful scammer.
Does it still go on with the foreign property market...?
Nice speaking with you James offline and my offer to come and see you exists anytime

woudn't mind but it wasn't even my car......... it was Craig's
I've not roped in friends much at this stage. That will come though I'm sure!
I've started getting together a list of all the little bits I might need, like nut caps, track rod end covers.
I have a question I don't know if anyone can answer. When can a Nut be left exposed without a cap. i.e only on suspension? or is it a case of just cover everything you can.
If anyone has example photos of the protection they've done on nuts (outside the cabin) that be great as some guidance.
Nut covers etc are really only used on open wheel cars. If you have full body then sharp edges are less of an issue.
I have just bought a polystyrene 100mm ball off of ebay to test for sharp edges on mine. Basically if the ball contacts it then it should have a 2.5mm radius.
Have a read of the manual http://www.completekitcar.co.uk/Resources/IVA%20M1...
Once you have been over it a few times it becomes a lot less daunting.
Mirrors and light positioning are 2 to look out for.

thanks Ive read the manual a fair few times but was unable to clearly tell how much they look into the sharp parts under the shell so to speak.I have just bought a polystyrene 100mm ball off of ebay to test for sharp edges on mine. Mirrors was the intersting one i had already read regarding being to adjust from the drivers seat, based on the fact it wont have any working windows the mirrors I think will need stalks that come through into the cabin so can be adjusted from the drivers seat.
Lights is an area that needs some working out to meet the requirements but nothing major, just positioning.
Not too much other than whats on the blog.
Its a bit of a limbo time for me, so just finishing off the engine and reading the IVA manual over and over as I study pictures and designs to ensure I meet all the requirements so when it comes to the actual build I dont hit many hurdles I dont know about and have a plan on what im doing.

just looking at the blog - make sure you get proper a fog light, some are sold as fog lights but will not pass, they need a ( think ) 21w bulb and a reflector inside them
They must also have an 'E' mark.Steve
hi james,
i have lost your emails and cant find your addy...
Im just with a guy at Advanced Motorsport who is cursing the miami GT as he has lost his money and non supplied goods to him here in UK.
His name is Bob Hall.
I obviously mentioned you so if you can email me again i can hook you two guys up together.
There is obviously alot of detail to what he is saying and maybe beneficial for you two to speak direct, so you actually wasnt the first as he goes back 18months or more on his order.
