Thanks. Yes, I'd definitely regret selling it! Can't think of anything else that would give you access to the same experiences for the price.
Spent a couple of hours cleaning the flies and and sun cream off the car today. Not sure where to start in diagnosing the rattle though.

Not found anything definitive on my annoying rattle. Have found the left front wheel arch liner was tapping against the chassis so I padded that at the contact point with some sticky-back velcro on the liner. The noise does not seem as pronounced now but I'm not entirely sure if that's just a side effect of my prodding about.
Anyway, the car remains the perfect foil for a sunny morning - this was the start of an early 200 miles around the Dales and the edge of Cumbria today

It's been a while since I've updated. Interesting reading back, there was so much to do to the car in the first couple of years and then the thread went quiet as I got it to the point where it just works every time I get it out lol.
I finally fixed the rattle last year - for all of £15 worth of parts! All that annoying noise was simply the pads rattling in the calipers. One set of these plates and one set of these pads and it's gone. Wish I'd known at the start!
Since the last update it's been out a few times but nothing photogenic I'm afraid. I've carried on using it occasionally over the winter as usual, but not much as cleaning it after every trip becomes a pain. I had a memorable drive out to the Lakes over Christmas though - my daily Scirocco was in the garage having a spring replaced so the Elise was pressed into service in the rain and snow.
So why am I updating now? Well after nearly 5 years it's time to move on. I've been all over in this car, and if money was no object it would be a "forever" car for me. Driving it is a uniquely intense experience I'll really miss in the future, but I've noticed the miles it's doing are getting less each year as priorities have changed and we have a new house to renovate. I'd also really like an Evora (I started this thread 3 years ago) but that's dependant on the house budget too. We'll see!
So expect to see it in the classifieds as soon as I get a dry day to take some photos. PM me if you want any details not covered on here.

Cheers guys.
Dalto - I really want an Evora but we’re renovating a house so my savings may well get spent there instead. If it does I’m thinking of an early Cayman. A few things need to firm up before I know which!
Whatever happens I’m changing to a single do-everything car instead of running a 2nd car, so it will need to be both fun and refined enough for daily driving.

Late response, sorry!
Similarly, I've just got onto the property ladder, so having everything I had tied up in the car just seemed silly, so it had to go. As I only drive at the weekends, having two cars doesn't make a huge amount of sense for me, so I'm currently running an Abarth 500 as a only car for a short while (bit of a change!)
Cayman would be lovely, if it's anything to go by, I drove a 2.7 987 gen Boxster at the weekend which was a lovely thing. An Evora, though, would be perfect.

500 Abarth sounds a lot of fun, my wife test drove one a few years ago and it had bags of character. I've not driven a Cayman but like you I've tried a Boxster and the thing that struck me was it's sheer poise. Will be a pale shadow of the Elise, but that's better in short hits.
