Funny you should mention Group C.. I had a guy bring in a full set of LMP2 suspension (wishbones, uprights, brakes, wheels) to see if I was interested in making something like that.

Kerb weight will be ~800kg and power is ~190bhp, so it won't be a rocket ship like my original project (600kg / 400bhp) but it should be a LOT of fun and certainly fast enough when hustled well.

The bodywork is a reproduction so isn't the most amazing fit or match to the original. As the car is likely to enter some endurance races, it'd be wise to take moulds and that's definitely on the cards at a later date, but I think to make acceptable reproductions I'd need to get hold of some original parts - there are some out there, but they aren't cheap by any means!
Well, let us know if you do decide to go the Group C route - That would be very cool indeed smile

800kg and 190bhp is about the same as an Exige S1, so it ought to be pretty handy I'd have said!

If you get the panels to a nice finish before it races, you ought to be able to take moulds off them. If the finish isn't great, does it matter if the moulds aren't?

The 205 T16 seems to be a rare beast even in 'kit' form (unlike the RS200 or 6R4) so I am sure there would be a market for panels! I'd absolutely love a mid-engine 205 and have been in (albeit irregular) contact with another PHer about my 106 project...

It's unlikely I will at the mo.. the offer was "build one for me an you can have a free set of LMP2 bits" but unfortunately I'm still very much at the stage where I need to be paid in real money. laugh

It's not so much the surface of them, as that's pretty decent, but the fit & finish generally. There are a lot of rough edges and it doesn't look like it was made with much care. I wouldn't want to sell parts to someone that required as much ballache as I'm having with these bits, as I doubt they'd be too happy with me for it! For this car reproducing the dodgy panels for spares will be fine but down the line some quality moulds or original parts will be required. There's a guy in France who has original moulds but as I'm sure you can imagine he's not in any rush to part with them or give someone a bargain!

Good to see this is still going and on the petrol powered / 205 route smile

I hope / dream of building a proper T16 replica myself sometime in the not too distant future. If not the panels, do you have you any plans to do the chassis as a 'kit'? I'm sure it'd be much better designed and thought out than I could ever come up with!
I actually came accross the Austrian site selling the body panels just before I saw that this had been updated. How are they to deal with? Are there any deals to be done if say a full set was purchased?

Looking forward to seeing the end result!

Yes, potentially more of these can / will be built..

Uhh.. what I have to say about the body panels can't be said, so it's best I say something else. If you're looking to build a proper T16 - that is, use panels that fit from people who can be trusted - I would use original panels. There's a place in France who sell genuine T16 parts and I would highly recommend going that route if you want value for money. I picked up a genuine spoiler from them and they were a pleasure to deal with. That said, it's not cheap.. but then neither is the other option, all things considered.

Read this entire thread start-to-finish in one go. HOLY stBALLS! What kind of emotional rollercoaster are you trying to put me through??!

Seriously though -- this is like the most interesting thing I've ever seen. Workmanship quality is off the charts -- the OP seems to have the ability to build anything imaginable.

Was gutted to not find photos of a monster space-frame 205 hillclimber at the end but I'll continue watching this space.

Check the Clio Sport link in my reply at the top of the page - looks like Cam is almost done!

Amazing, fantastic work!

It's certainly got me thinking about my next project!

I've been away for 18 months and have just read your whole thread on the Clio forum (expecting to see your 205 finished) - as has been said, absolutely epic fabrication skills, what a read!!! And credit to you for sharing so much detail of the build, especially as it is a business venture.

Thank you bow

On the back burner - you can see it in the background in some of the cliosport pics!

Hello again!

Just to clear a few things up before I go on.. I don't have this car anymore, it was all sold off last year to pay for tools / equipment for my fabrication shop! There seems to be a bit of confusion on the interweb about whether I finished this or not, so best to clarify I didn't.. I hung on to it for about 2 years then decided the money was best invested in my business to set a foundation for the future (one in which I could do this again, but better biggrin )

On a more positive note, I finished the other 205 I was building and it had its first track appearance on Saturday!

Here's some pics.. the rest can be found on the link Dom9 shared, along with a full write-up.

And then some on-board footage from Rockingham.. you can probably tell I was crapping myself in the first video, but soon got comfortable.

Sadly that's all the footage I got, as my GoPro seems to be deleting everything when I try importing.

Thanks to everyone for the words of encouragement throughout the build(s), more pics / videos incoming next weekend from Snetterton beer

Yeah I was getting on with a load of small jobs so waited until it was all done! It's doing its 2nd and last track day this year at the weekend, so it'll likely be quiet again after that.

I've got a serious itch to build something else now tbh.. laugh

Think I posted some ideas previously but a nice 6R4/RS200 replica would be cool, along the same theme.

Create your own Group B grid!

Alternatively; Porsche 962 bodywork is fairly readily available wink

There has to be a modern hatch crying out for the Clio V6 treatment...

Is there a rough figure you would say to sell another of the blue 205's now you have it jigged etc?

I was going to ask the same thing but I think the powers-that-be take a dim view on such things, these days (advertising rules).

I wouldn't be adverse to stopping by for a visit, one day...

Yes they do, which is why I don't have a thread on PH about this car..

Best emailing me if you want to chat about anything, as I don't get much browsing time these days! cam@saloonlibre.co.uk

Thank You.

Do you think this could pass an Iva test to be Road registered?
