Lovely thing and excellent choice in vehicles, sorry the Porsche had to go.

On the subject of moving the steering wheel closer to you, in the past I have found that fitting quick release steering wheel bosses can bring the wheel that little bit closer to hand, and obviously without the annoyance of making it harder to get in and out as the wheel can just be flicked off.

love the Elan. . . on the subject of wishbones... a friend of mine made up a few sets for the M100 elan in stainless steel, which turned out to be lighter than the originals ! (very Lotus) he could no doubt make what your after but he would need a template. PM me and i will put you in touch as and when

You might want to add wheel trim to the list (for the offside rear). wink

I think mine are bent - so probably not the best to use as a template!

Top work, get on it Olly and you'll be covered in snatch in time for spring.

Re the wheel, I think you'd struggle to get the existing wheel onto an after market quick release boss. I can report that the Momo product is very good, nice positive action and no worry about it coming off in your hands while going sideways at 90mph and sawing away at the wheel - unlike Sparco and lesser options I've used.

Are you going to get it to nice road spec or something lairy?

A friend rallies a Sprint and he's put a LOT of time and cash into it, well over £100k. It does 0-30 in around 2 seconds, quite handy on rally stages.

Lovely car Olly. I didn't know they bothered with brake servos at that weight.

Steering wheel - you could have the top section of column modified by a proper machine shop to extend it. (I did this on my Westfield). Or you could look at an aftermarket wheel which allows the fitment of spacers between the wheel and the boss. e.g. Moto Lita do 1/2" and 1" spacers.

Through the magic of Twitter I just asked Harry where he got his wishbones. He suggested you try Paul Matty or Tony Thompson Racing.

Just spoke to Tony Thompson - they are only 10 miles down the road so will take it over there for them to inspect it.

Bless.

Get the Elan entered on the track day in the classics section on August 1st, that'll light a fire under the resto. £80, Blyton, open pit.

Lovely thing.

Would absolutely love an Elan now I have a garage, but they're silly money these days frown

Looking good Olly and good luck with the MOT and impending improvements, don't go too nuts though tongue out

Me and the 944T are getting along just fine so far; a mental jobs list has been written and a pile of shiny parts is forming in my dining room... I'll get a thread going on here soon.
