This looks excellent - such a nice compact size for a 4-seater saloon as well. If I had loads of funds i'd like to do a rwd one, a la Bertie Fisher one, with rwd and Sapphire Cosworth running gear and similar styling to yours
My friend's Dad used to have them new, 1.6 Ghia and then a 1.6i Ghia, back in the 80s. He used to borrow them when his car was in dry dock. Remember them being good fun and a bit tail happy as well. Such a light car these days

Just happened on this thread, never been much of a Ford man but that does look like a nice project you have there.
Saw that you used to go to c&c which has stopped due to some numptys, you should try the PH meet at The Wharf, Cheswardine as there are a few from your neck of the woods plus a few fast fords, got bigger lately so could be I have missed your motor

Great car and very impressive work.

Just a thought that you may be interested in this for your engine bay...

( apologies to the chap who is selling the Alfa that this pic is from !!, but it does look amazing !)

Apparently it's ceramic coated in Cermachrome.

I am not sure if this is the same as another ceramic coating process, the name of which I have forgotten (!) but which is used in racing to keep the temperatures lower.

As you have done so much with your car you probably are aware of this anyway !!

Aha, I thought it was but hadn't checked. I was at this show too and had a good look at the car. It really is a great piece of work.

Re the exhaust, there was an episode of Wheeler Dealers where Mike took a set of manifolds to get the ceramic coating, and there were quite a few different colours available. I have read elsewhere that it is quite expensive !

Years ago I had my classic Lotus Elan manifolds nickel plated, that cost about £50 in 2001 or so. But that was for cosmetic reasons, as most of the other Elans I saw at shows etc had painted exhausts and the paint seems to burn off after a short time. And that was in old NA Lotus TwinCam engines...

Think I was told it’ll be around £300 mark for coating the manifold...
Should help lower temps under the bonnet

Due to the rain today we didn’t go to Oulton Parks GoldCup, instead pulled the gearbox cradle off to have ago at helicoiling one of the front gearbox mount holes
Once off found 2 out of 3 no good so hopefully this is my tapping on and off throttle
Top hole threads have gone
Middle hole is errrrm buggered, needs abit welding back in when it comes out I suppose
So for now we’ve just helicoil’d the top hole and crossed fingers, 2 out of 3 Is better than 1 out of 3

Orion & A3 all cleaned up for tomorrow’s GoldCup
Local show for us & a nice little journey to check all is good again on the Orion for now

Had a little run out to Ace Cafe for the Orion Owners Group meet up
A 340 mile round trip for us, but as it’s the Orion’s 35th Anniversary we had to go the extra mile
