Tickles Lotus Elise S1 111s
Discussion
A mid-interior refresh update.
My seats are currently at the trimmers, so I have made the most of free time prepping the car ready for them.
The bottom panel below the seats got a coating of POR-15 and the glue off the sill pads got removed. Not sure what Lotus used to stick them on with but I would say it was overkill! A Toffee wheel made short work of it, but made a fair amount of rubber dust!
The tub got scrubbed with Autoglym Tar & Adhesive cleaner, shampoo then a coating of ACF-50.
The steering wheel centre got sanded and repainted to match the new seat centres; light grey alcantara.
Finally my knob got a polish
Just waiting for the seats now, hopefully back next week. The interior is now ready for them.

As luck would have it my seats and sill covers were ready the weekend after I refreshed the tub, the weather also seemed to to be on my side too.
With the resprayed runners and a set of new S/S fixing bolts the seats got reassembled and carefully put back in the car. Very pleased with them.
As the car hadn't been used for a few weeks it got to open its lungs to with some cold Autumn air.

Love the seats Mark, who did them for you?
One of the guys I always seem to bump into when at Phoenix Motorsports runs a company called Motorsport Upholstery, he has an Exige so gets quite a bit of business from other Lotus (Loti?). Made up with them, not so much about the imminent Winter weather!Looks like a good job-sill pads really set it off! I'm not one for modded S1's but your's is nice and sympathetic to the original concept
Unfortunately around here the gritters have been out already-that's mine away for winter unless a bright, sunny morning comes around which is salt free.

Totally agree, I think Lotus got things pretty much spot on with the different variants of the S1. They did cut a few corners though so I think they are upgrades more than mods, sure you know all about them anyway. Saying that some of the Honda K20 cars look very appealing
My stone guards could do with being changed, debating to stay clear or black.
It's a sad time of year when you see the gritting van. They have not been here yet but no doubt on the cards soon. As you, I may get to have a quick run out on one of them rare cold sunny winters day that the gritters haven't been out.
Hopefully both get to Wales at some point in the Spring / Summer

Not had much time to drive the 111s lately, due to a combination of weather and being away with work.
I did however manage to stretch its legs this morning, prior to some jobs being done over Winter. First up is a wheels off clean of under the arches, re-grease of suspension components and a coating of ACF-50.
My wheels also have a spider like crazing to them, not sure if this is part of bad powder coating prep, but its gradually got worse. The wheels will be going for a refurb anyway, in silver of course and using paint!
Pic from this mornings fresh air blast, probably should post in the 'Preferring open top motoring in the winter. Madness?' thread too

Looks fantastic! I've got a series 1 which, mechanically, is spot-on but she's a grotty little hoor on the inside. Haha, they do get sy on the inside quickly, I think the aluminium makes any dirt show up more than carpets, oh then there is the problem when a rouge coin falls out of your pocket. A coin rattling on the floor pan at tick-over is one of the most annoying parts of S1 ownership Tickle said:

My wheels had been subject to 'crazing' in the top layer of the lacquer of the powder-coat refurb I had done when I got the car. In certain lights it was visible and annoying, to me anyway. After a bit of digging on PH and SELOC I decided to go for a refurb using paint instead of powder-coating.
I got advised to check the wheels were not cracked underneath the coating, kindly the guy doing the refurb sent pictures of each wheel when fully stripped back. Pleased to report they were all fine.
I've had the wheels back for a week or so now but a dry day today gave me the opportunity to put them back on. I also applied new decals to them inside the house; one, to make them stick in the warm and two to keep me warm, it's still a bit of spring yet! Oh, and grey dust caps to.
One of the other jobs whilst the car was on stands was to refurbish the diffuser and associated stainless fixings.
Not sure why I did the diffuser, it's quite hidden and will be spattered in horse/cow ste after a blast to Wales.
