I've missed these updates over Winter! Cracking car, cracking thread....
Thanks, winter does feel longer when your hobby is predominantly in the summer! Will try to keep things updated.G111MDS said:
Great to see an update on this. I’ve now joined the Lotus club too
Great stuff, Exige SC? How's Lotus life so far, good?itcaptainslow said:
Love the roof bar stickers! It’s definitely the small details...
If you’re up for it this summer I’d love to come across to North Wales in mine and meet up finally!
Cheers mate, if we have a bit of a prolonged dry spell like last summer would be good to catch up. I understand N Wales is a trek for you. Will message you if I have bit of forward planning on a drive out. If you’re up for it this summer I’d love to come across to North Wales in mine and meet up finally!
It seems to be the theme for me at the moment, driving and free time has had to take a back seat.
Luckily, I had a free evening on Summer Solstice to get out for a drive. Perfect evening for a drive, if not a little cold on the way home with no roof on!
Something very special about following a car so small, quickly changing direction, red lights bobbing up and down with the crests and undulations all with the sunset and mountains in the background
Next up is a service, nothing special just an 'A'. Sourcing the oil myself and from what I have read semi-synthetic is the most VVC friendly, any thoughts on that welcome. I have done some searching on SELOC and the S1 FB page but nothing definitive
The car will also be tested as a weekend-away car for Mrs Tickle and myself. She hates the thing so not sure how that will go!

MG Rover specify 10w40 semi synthetic and it does seem to be the best way to a quiet VVC mech! I’ve run everything VVC on it and never had an issue.
Cheers mate, that's what's at the top of my list due to the mech as you say. Was going to go with Millers Oils CSS 10w-40 Competition happy to be advised otherwise. Tickle said:
I like that, nice way to look at it.
You are right, I don't think I wasted the few times I've used it
Managed to not waste a few more miles. Thought I maybe outgunned with the more powerful You are right, I don't think I wasted the few times I've used it
Great morning out, good cars and company.
Few winter jobs lined up, bit of interior trim tidy-ups and a service ready for a Scotland trip in the new year.

Having halved my horsepower this year it's something I care a lot less about. Using all of them is far more fun than tickling some of them.
We messed about with a drone and had sound recording in the boot. Listening back to it I was surprised how little time I used full throttle for. As you say, using what you have makes for a more entertaining drive, especially when just using a car for A to A fun driving. A light, narrow car with a revvy engine and very short ratio box is perfect for what I use it for.Fonzey said:
Stunning, keep up the winter updates.
Hoping to get to Anglesey in May if you're around for a coffee
Cheers mate. Trying to find time to do stuff on the car with a young family/work is hard at the moment, no doubt you will be doing the juggling time act too at the moment!Hoping to get to Anglesey in May if you're around for a coffee
If it's dry I will sort something out, sounds like a plan, I need to get out!

Looks great as always mate. Are you doing the NC500?
Thanks mate.We are doing some of the NC500, albeit a modified version. Looking forward to it, maybe not the motorway section to get up there with the standard 111S fifth gear!

When will you be doing the NC500?
Talking with some friends to take the boat from Belgium and do it (amongst others) with my S1 111S. We're thinking september.
Hi, it will be before the holiday season (early June probably). Hopefully it won't be busy, our route kind of avoids sections that will be. If plans change and I go after Summer I will let you know Talking with some friends to take the boat from Belgium and do it (amongst others) with my S1 111S. We're thinking september.
