It's not a card, it's a transponder that is affixed to the windscreen near the rvm. It beeps when operating, which is quite re-assuring.
Yes, poor choice of word. I read the FAQs before ordering but I lazily just called it a 'card'. It's far more high-tech A pass at last. Took a while to go through the emissions (as every year). I really must sort out the missing catalytic converter (as every year)
The brakes feel a little better, shorter pedal travel but still lacking the bite I want. If the weather is agreeable I'll take a look tomorrow.
Old parts (the garage always keeps them to show the customer)
Crusty brake lines:
Hose (not sure what was wrong with it but I trust them)
The final bill (I managed to flutter my eyelashes and she knocked off £20 - I think she felt sorry for me)
MoT advisories: Rear fuel pipes corroded, rattling catalytic converter, rear springs corroded, OSF lower ball joint play.
All-in-all, not that bad. Some more expense coming up next year though

Please post lots of updates and photos of your Spanish jaunt.
Have to say, I was expecting your garage bill to be more than that - did you flutter anything else other than your eyelashes?
If he offered, I suspect the fact he DIDN'T flutter anything else is why it was lower. Have to say, I was expecting your garage bill to be more than that - did you flutter anything else other than your eyelashes?
Yes, I will be updating the thread with trip pictures, though unlikely to be on a daily basis. Depends on wiffy availability and my ability to do it from the phone.
I've ordered a Michelin Guide as it wasn't that expensive and should come in handy.
Autoglass has just been and repaired the chip. It's still noticable but he says it shouldn't spread.
As I am slightly hungover I am not looking at the brakes just yet

I decided to go on an extended shake-down this afternoon which ended up being 100 miles. No issues, really. Brake pedal is acceptable if spongy. I might leave them alone.
It looks a bit saggy at the rear here but it's not that bad
I still don't think I have managed to put in more that 90 litres. Needle was almost at the bottom

Shirley you could've squeezed a little more out of the pump?
Re the windscreen chip, there are two layers of glass bonded to one another in a windscreen. The resin penetrates the cracks and remains partially visible but is solid. The inner layer won't be affected so all good. Very prudent to have had it sorted. In my Reader's Wives thread, I have a photo record of the process - a one man band came round with a discount advertised at Costco and he address both family cars. He did a great job and explained the process to me, heating the resting with infra red.

As the overtime lately has been quite good, I had a rush of blood to the head and have ordered a new HRW. £682 back-ordered from ze Fatherland. This is £100 less than a couple of years ago when I first inquired. I thought it best to buy before they decide to shift it over to the classic centre and double the price.
According to MB Poole 4 were sold last year but it was unclear if he meant UK or Europe.

Thanks for that. I have contacted glassman of this parish but will bear them in mind
Final checks before the off tomorrow morning. Typically it's chucking it down and I haven't put on the headlamp stickers or GB sticker, so they may have to wait until I arrive.
Gale warnings in place for Biscay so could be a lively crossing. It's so long since I have sailed, I can't remember if I suffer from seasickness. Looking at the deck plan of the boat, HGVs appear to be on the deck below cars so hopefully nothing will happen to the CL on the crossing.

I've discovered that for me, if the sea is rough, finding somewhere to lay down, preferably flat out, always stops any feeling of sickness. Final checks before the off tomorrow morning.
