Taking the E39 is now an option if the garage can't fix it, though I still have a suitcase of clothes in the boot which I need
I can cancel the green card up to 21.00 tonight, ferry will change vehicle no problem and MSM Insurance will swap policies over if needed.
Fingers crossed the garage can fix the CL but I suspect it's going to be bad news. Worst comes to the worst, I claim on the insurance for the ferry ticket and spend three weeks here/somewhere else,.
Bloody cars!

I'm not suggesting I have a solution, but I had a boot close hiccup on my 124 just last Thursday. In my instance, the boot lock button (keyhole plus press to release, if you see what I mean) was stuck in, which not only caused the boot not to soft-close shut (nor latch shut) but also meant the central locking kept unlocking the whole car as it couldn't lock the boot.
I doubt there's any connection (and apologies in advance for the spam if that's the case!) and I'm sure your mechanic will have checked the obvious, but my boot thing is something I've never heard of before and was an easy fix (key in, wiggle, draw button out, cycle boot open/closed until soft-close closed) and I hope you have something similar!

If I were a suspect gentleman (the jury's out), I'd suspect the boot lock has stuck closed, and the vacuum CL system (assuming it's the same as the 124) can't exist in a dual state, so is defaulting to locked.
The same as my observation last week, but the other way around, if you will.

Vacuum pump/module fked. They had it working temporarily but it failed again. They've got the boot open so I can retrieve my stuff but no time to find one, even though the sailing has been postponed now until 23.00 tomorrow due to the bad weather in the Bay.
I'm feeling adventurous so I've swapped all the details over to the E39. It may not make it back.

The second barge has certainly helped out but I really wanted to take the CL. Nevermind.
The only thing left documents-wise is the transponder for the tolls and that was an easy switch-over on-line.
The vacuum pump is NLS from MB (was £1,200 when it was) so I'll forget about that until I come back.
The pub beckons....
