I was determined to purchase a new car this year, i was set on an R53 Mini cooper s to be used as a daily and for a step up from my current (first) car. However after thinking about it and insurance companies giving ridiculous quotes i forgot that plan. Anyway one evening i was having a look through a few internet sites and this Ginetta G20 came up and for some reason i wanted it. I did an insurance quote for limited mileage and it was looking even more hopeful so i arranged viewing. This confirmed my initial thoughts, so i put a deposit down on the car.

However it's taken a couple of weeks to finalise everything, but now i can't wait to pick the car up, as long as it's dry on the collection day!

It's a 2006 registered road going G20 which has covered just over 5,000 miles, it's only a 1.8 zetec but due to it weighing 660kg it should be good fun. I'm only 19 and my current car is a mk2 fiesta so it's a very different car, however i've managed to buy a car that has less than the fiesta biggrin .
Sorry for all the boring text and the lack of photos. More to come when i collect the car.

Regards,
Matt

Great choice of car, I have never seen one of these on the road - I have only seen them being raced, that makes it a very cool road car!

Interesting choice, does it have a roof option?

Thanks for the responses, feel very fortunate to be able to have the car. There is no roof option, Ginetta made a fixed roof version but that was in race form for the Ginetta junior championship. However i have seen pictures of a car that has been converted to road going spec.

Matt

That's great. I want one. I really like Ginetta's designs. A roof would make it perfect.

We are going to the Ginetta factory just before Easter to eye up a G40r to see if that's what we want :-)

Very very nice! Kudos OP for having this at 19 too.

Pheonix where I get my car serviced had a G40 in getting prepared. Looked a good peice of kit.

Keep the thread updated too.

Definitely not a bad way to see the wrong side of a hedge at 19.

I love these. One of my favourite kit cars, no doubt. I love those blobby, classic looks that remind me of old Lotus race cars as well as the classic Ginettas! I do think if they had made a hard top version in the style of the G4R they would have sold considerably more. Still, that's probably the most fun you can have on the roads without being on a motorbike.

Thanks for the comments biggrin , the G40 looks like it's a brilliant car and at least you get a roof! I'm not planning/hoping on crashing it, it'll take some time to get used to it though.

Looks great mate! Like if a AC cobra and a MX5 had an illegitimate love child!!

Enjoy it mate, as said above, just be careful, it's a big step up from the Fiesta in every way! Although I don't envy you having no roof! Is this gonna be a daily driver?

I like the car. Not sure I'd want it for just road driving though. When is your track day booked? wink
