Impressed at your mpg, my old bus is currently showing 51.5mpg and that's on a 45mile motorway speed run each way.

I have a sneaky feeling I have another leaky injector

Great success, I'm now a member of the Ovlov club. Saw an ad on Autotrader late last week which looked promising but only had a landline number and no reply all weekend, luckily got a reply yesterday and picked it up today.

Lovely. Wasn't intending on an auto but it really is immaculate, goes and stops as it should, fantastic sound system, heated cow and nary a mark on it...

229k with a full service history but really drives like much less. It needs an MoT in June and having washed it there seems to be a bit of an oil leak from around the front offside corner, however after light haggling I paid....

£1200.

Chuffed would be an understatement smile

1200 for an 07 plate is incredible going.

Oil leak will likely be the interboiler - they tend to leak in the corners when they go.
Agreed. Easy diy job though. Me doing mine.

I know its not local to you but this is near me. I have no connection with the seller but I've been watching it as im thinking of making him an offer and getting some pocket money out of it.

The cow is Kanye not Eminem but it would detail up well. Any good to you?
I went to see this a couple of weeks or so back. Chap has replaced it with an Xc70. Apparently it's been serviced annually, but there didn't seem to be any history to back it up. Picked up knee in East Kilbride in the same colour combo at the bear enough the same price, but with full history and lots of supporting receipts. Really liking it so far.

Ah thanks, I'll leave it then. I know how these engines like good and regular oil changes so missing history is a deal breaker for me. The fact its still hanging around means others must have the same concerns.

I am driving it in full Ovlov mode. By which I mean like an old pensioner...

Mainly because the M1 queues at the same bit every morning and I'm in no rush to get to it, so I just waft along at around 55-60 (just keeping out of the way of lorries basically).

It gets the odd boot through MK, but otherwise I'm really making a concerted effort to keep the MPG high. Previously I've also averaged around 50 on the computer, I'm just curious to see how it can do thumbup

£1,200 looks like a bargain, an auto would suit the car's overall demeanor, I think they'd sorted them out after a few years as well

Do you own green wellies? EVERYONE who drives a Volvo owns a pair. If you are female then a pair of Jodhpurs.

Indeed. Took me circa 3 hours to do mine, including a couple of cups of tea. Managed it without draining the cooling system and removing the radiator too.
In terms of economy, I used to bang on about it on here when I had it but it wasn't great. 58 mpg indicated on the OBC, real average of around 44...
That was mostly motorway on cruise at an indicated 70 mph, although to be fair I tended to be heavier footed around town and on the rare occasions I'd go into the countryside.

Thanks for the nice comments all, it does seem like a bargain so I'm glad I persevered, it was a surplus 5th car for a fairly well off family which is the kind of one I was looking for...

Auto is pretty good, it does dull the performance a little bit but as with all decent autos once you learn how they behave you can modulate accelerator inputs to make it go as you wish...

A man put it together rust free, with a raft of proprietary and expensive tools and the assistance of other trained colleagues in a warm, dry and well lit environment with all of the parts required available to hand. A man can take it apart and do the same again after at least 7 failed attempts, multiple scuffed knuckles, a lost finger, loss of employment due to repeated absences, a bitter divorce, and at least a week each spent in denial, anger, bargaining, depression and finally acceptance.smile

You'd manage on the 8th attempt outside your new rented flat 40 miles from your kids. Few 4-packs of Stella and some tears but you'd do it. yes

Regarding a couple of earlier comments about the gearbox, keeping it fed a steady diet of fresh JWS-3309 spec fluid (not dexron-iii or anything else) is a sure way to help it stay reliable. Lots of forum threads about it to be found!

As for the intercooler... how much of a job is it really? I think mine's leaking: think this could be causing the mpg to dip slightly?

Cheers!

Arse... (to the tune of 'there may be trouble aheaaaaaad'). Warm day today and the gearbox is noticeably harsh and occasionally 'shunting' at low speeds. Didn't do this whilst test driving or indeed since then.

Fingers crossed.

Oooo bugger. Maybe a fluid change could help? Hope it's nothing serious thumbup To be fair, at £1,200 you're currently about £1,800 below my total spend so far so you've got off lightly hehe

Before breaking out the bork fund, have a look at the actual fluid level in the box. A lot of people try and do a flush on them and because there is a procedure to follow which they don't, they get more out than they get in. Oil comes out the fill hole and thy think it's full. It isnt. You still have a dry valve chamber etc.
