It's crazy to me that it's such an expensive car in Europe. The base model here with the 3.7L V6 is $28k CAD. A 5L GT is $40k CAD before you've added in your options. And the absolute top end max spec Shelby GT350R is $80k CAD. €120k is ridiculous!

IIRC the Dutch have some insane level of tax on any large engined car so in reality the € is not really representative of what most Europeans would pay?

Oh okay, that makes sense then I guess. Why is Ford penalized so badly by this? Is the engine that much worse on emissions? Are most supercars going to be double or triple the price of anywhere else?

I'm assuming if you were to buy the car in Belgium or Germany you'd still get screwed by this system when you imported it?

Fantastic, brilliant spec too. I love the brown leather. When you can get one for about €35k then that's mental value for money. It looks brilliant to my eyes and it has a manual 'box and a V8, how can you beat it?!

I rented a Camaro SS in California for a couple of weeks, the Mustang looks much better and less bloated.
I think the colour with the brown leather looks fantastic. Great value too! Enjoy.

Are you legally allowed to change the light specs (drls and rear cluster) back to US spec? I was getting giddy with the idea of a GT replacing my 6 series after driving one in the states in Nov/Dec but then I found out about all the cosmetic changes for the UK/EU spec cars and that took the shine off things.

OP, you are one very lucky man! thumbup

V8 Manual fastback is the only new car currently on sale that I would want to buy - just wish I could find the money!

Your tax system sounds painful! I seem to remember on a business trip to Denmark some years back that they also have punitive taxes on new cars.

June isn't so far away - enjoy!

Checking in here. Not long now at all! I would agree the US lights are a much better look, and the other plans you have. I'm sure people will think you've either bought an EcoBoost and badged it as a 5.0, or you're a millionaire!

I saw your excited post on Facebook, I'm a little jealous. I've hired a GT for a couple of days in LA next week, I'll let you know what I find out about it wink

Looking forward to following this one, have always enjoyed your RR threads.

About the only thing I don't like about the Mustang is the big "5.0" badge, that would have to go immediately. Other than that, I want one.

Looks ace, and I'm with you on wanting brown leather.

A V8 fastback is 50k CHF here, which is a lot considering we only have 8% VAT. Still, that's 10k cheaper than the F Pace I had my eye on, but possibly not so good for family skiing trips...

In theory, there are countless Mustangs about. Consequently, it's a delicious irony of sorts to be able to say that you have the only one in the country.

And the months-long narrative of production and shipping is perfect for an ongoing thread.

Regarding the New York leg of your ship's journey, the regional container and ro-ro ports are noted on this map.

Great topic, OP. Savour the anticipation.

that OER price is insane. wouldn't be my choice but can see why you have opted in given the tax reasons. grey's a great choice, one of my neighbours has one and whilst i still think the proportions aren't right in photos i have to admit its a good looking car in the metal. needs wider arches though!

are you allowed to sell it without incurring huge penalties? i.e. can you start your own lucrative mustang dealership knocking them out to joe public [or jan publiek] for 70k a time?

what the likely sale price in 10yrs time with BPM factored in? could potentially be the ultimate in cost free long term motoring.

Damn it Captain... Seeing you buying a car like that for a price like this in my country makes me hate our tax system even more.

Luckily the BPM drops on a yearly rate, as I'm thinking of getting a bike out of Germany.

If it's covered in other threads then feel free to point me there (or tell me to mind my own), but what is this special tax status that locals don't get? It sounds worth having!
