Love the R, i'd like to have one as a daily, they are however very expensive and rare on home turf as strange as that may seem.

Could someone please advise why the turning circle is so poor on this car over a "standard" V70?

Is it because of the "monster" under the bonnet?

Because the engine is mounted sideways ala small engined hatchback opposed to longways like BMW.

Big engines, small space... sacrifice is turning circle. Affects all s60/v70 of this shape

All S60 / V70 models are pretty poor but they're worse with the bigger wheels (thus the lock stops are bigger to stop the wheels fouling the inner arches) but even by Volvo standards, these are bad... I swung in to the drive for the first time this week in a V70 with big wheels, using the exact same line as my old V70 Classic and had I not stopped, I'd have been in the front garden. In fact, it's so bad I can't get in in one go... looking forward to the first trip to the multi-story car park.

Have a feeling it will be required. Received the following message via eBay today. I just suggested it might not be the car for him as I'm not sure this is really a reasonable list of questions, or am I wrong and should I know the answers to this?

1. Has the PCV, crank case pressure, system been replaced
2. Has the output shaft from the gearbox to angle gear been replace with new and stronger collar
3. Have all the oils in the rear diff, haldex and angle gear been changed
4. Has the haldex filter been changed for a new one with a heat sink
5. have the rear bottom beam toe in bushes been replaced
6. What type of oil has the car been serviced with
7. Are the seats, in particular the driver's seat unmarked.
8. Front wishbones, how old and if replaced were they genuine Volvo parts
9. How old are the front driveshafts, if replaced were they genuine Volvo parts
10. Front bumper, is this damaged on the underside lip where it has caught a kerb
11. Do the headlight wipers and rear wiper work
12. Have the uptake seals in the oil pan been replaced
13. How old are the three engine mounts...?

I have two cars for sale at the moment and it has been very difficult, more so than normal. Some of those questions are reasonable, others a little over the top. He/she might just be asking everything that comes to mind and will be okay with "I'm not sure" as an answer to many of the questions. The standard thing I've had so far is, "what will you take for it?" my reply to which generally receives no response.

Stuff, including questions from a clown...
So he expects the driver's seat on a 150,000+ mile, 16+ year old car to be unmarked?

You did the right thing telling him to look elsewhere!

Good luck with the sale.

I guess you will not be posting the question and response on ebay. I remember someone saying exactly the same words to my Father. Wool, pull eyes over....not today my friend. If you look closely your pictures give it away.
To which I replied

It's a 161k, multiple owner car. I cannot answer most of the questions as I don't know. I'm not pulling the wool over your eye, I'm suggesting it's not the car for you given your expectations.

1. No idea
2. No idea
3. No idea
4. No idea
5. No idea
6. 0/30 recently, before that..no idea
7. No, of course not, it's done 161k
8. No idea
9. No idea
10. Yes it hangs down a bit
11. Yes
12. No idea
13. Top I replace last year, others...no idea.

Should learn not to really...

blimey, good luck if the buyer asks those questions, I normally ask one or two simple questions such as "can you confirm the last time it was serviced" and most sellers cant/dont answer that!

The problem with responding to that chap's questions is that he'll now come up with a follow-up set of even more detailed queries... Which I would imagine to be along the lines of:

1) During the car's most recent service, did you observe the Volvo Technician(s) actually removing the spark plugs and putting new ones in? Same goes for oil, all filters, etc.

2) I trust you've only ever used tyres of a brand and type recommended by Volvo themselves. When were these last changed? I say "they", as I mean all four at the same time, which of course you must do with a 4WD car.

3) Your pictures do not clearly show the state of wear of the interior. I need to be assured that the driver's seat has never been sat in. Please confirm this is the case.

4) I will need in writing that you have never taken the car above 3,000rpm. I trust this won't be a problem.

Etc.

He sounds like he would be in touch when a tyre needs to be replaced or the screen wash needs filling!

What is he expecting for the cost?

Well it makes a change from "Hw much U wnt 4 it M8, bring U 200cash 2nite", I suppose.

Personally I'd try to answer them and see what happens - at least the potential buyer is literate.

If he'd called to ask these questions in a conversation then I'd think he was a very clued up buyer gathering as much info as possible. Over e-mail? Timewaster.

I can't understand why a buyer would ask questions like that. It comes across as very nieve as without a very thorough inspection and all receipts it just wouldn't be possible to actually prove a lot of that work has been done regardless of how you answer the questions.

Tell him to get it inspected by a Volvo specialist if he's that concerned.
