Every time this threads pops up on my watchlist, I'm hugely interested in a new update by PPBB.
Unfortunately more often than not, it's not an update frown

C'mon PPBB, how is this fabulous cars doing? Please do post something, anything. Even it's a small teaser!

Sorry everyone, it is a bit crazy for me right now (in business and in my personal life) with everything that is going on in the world and the Porsche has taken a bit of a back seat in things despite still being in use as much as is possible at the moment.

Some very small updates.

Today it got hailed on:

Also the carbon wings are done:

And that's not an intentionally rubbish pic of them, just what I had on my phone.

Normal service will be resumed as soon as...... well..... normal service is resumed laugh

I've just re-read this entire thread (after first reading it a couple of years ago) - still incredibly inspiring and thanks PPBB for so generously sharing your knowledge - and patiently! I bought a 996TT about 8 months ago - always wanted one in speed yellow so when a low mileage one came up (it had only done 35k miles when I got it altho have since put 2.5k on it) I took the plunge. It's tiptronic tho which wasn't really my preference but the colour....so far I've kept the 996C2 I've owned for the last 15 years - it's a LHD manual I brought back to New Zealand from the US when relocating back to NZ. Was thinking about selling it but this thread has made me think I'd be better off keeping it - still love driving it after so many years, which is a pretty good reason to keep it! I've put about 40k miles on it after buying it at around 40k - only about a year's driving for OP...

911Kiwi - Great to hear your thoughts and the Turbo sounds lovely! If you're going for a very performance orientated model then having it in a subtle colour I never feel is the best choice (unless you're desperate for something stealthy), big fan of Speed Yellow! I bet it looks fantastic. I'd definitely keep the C2, but then I would say that wouldn't I laugh

Joe5y well done! Welcome to the fold. I hope you have many years of happy and enjoyable driving - just a warning, they get under your skin a bit as there isn't anything else that drives like a decent 996/997 does! biggrin

The many miles 996 got a decent clean over the weekend. Including in the nose where all sorts of detritus seems to accumulate laugh

I'm going to make the looms up for the new TPMS system this week, it will send all the relevant TPMS data to the EVO 5 via CAN so the relevant warnings for pressure, temp etc. will appear on the dash and general tire pressure and temp will be logged which'll make for quick and easy tyre pressure setup if I chose to do a few track days in it later in the year.

I've also got the composite front wings and bonnet about ready for paint. I'll post some pictures of these shortly biggrin

I'd love to say there was but Lockdown and the various results of it and the world situation in general have meant I've done bob all on it for months frown I've slowly been collecting parts ready for when I can do some international running with it again but for now it's living in the garage and coming out as and when chance allows. Rather massive change when compared to years gone by!

I'm sure this has been asked before, but having a rough idea what your job is, does the Porsche act as an R&D mule in any way?

It has done at various points but not necessarily for F1 related bits. I'm retired from F1 now so the Porsche has become much more about my enjoyment of it over the past few months than needing to be a working car..... working as in for a living not operational laugh

One of your very early pictures show the car with a wheel stud conversion. The later pics show the standard bolts. Is there a reason for the change?

It used to be on steel studs, now it's on titanium studs, no standard bolts I'm afraid.

Cheers for the reply.
I'm thinking of steel studs for my Cayman (ti are too expensive) something at the back of my mind is preventing me from going for them...

Why not? Makes wheel changes a bit easier but no real difference other than that with bolts. Also makes using spacers easier.

I just need to get out of my head the worry of them coming loose!!
I realise you need to fit them properly so it's down to me really to get the bad thoughts out of my head....

I wouldn't have thought they were anymore likely to come undo than wheel bolts, which incidentally I think are the stupidest thing ever.

I realise it's off-topic, but wheel bolts really are a PITA!

I've had BMWs for the last 15 years or so and fit winter tyres each year and every time I swap wheels I get reminded how crap they are. laugh

That was one benefit of old Fords.
