Lets do a family orientated vehicle!
There was absolutely no need for me to buy one of these, well my excuse is that I have to ferry my
mother around and she can't really get into my RCZR and even though the 308 (mk2) wasn't bad, she
still had her moments getting out of there, oh and the 2 dogs, not big dogs but hey, it's an excuse
So I went to one of Peugeot's events at my local Peugeot dealer, they had a 2ltr BlueHDI GT Line 3008 SUV
demonstrator so I had a drive in it, and loved it
Maybe it's me getting a little older, the 308 GTI 250 they offered me for an astoundingly low price (new)
was tempting for about 5 seconds, but really the 308 I had was better equipped.
Don't get me wrong, the 308 is a great car but this is just even better, it drives extremely well for an SUV,
there is enough power from its 2ltr 150ps Diesel unit, its roomier than the 308 (leg room in the back was a
little restrictive, not so in the 3008) and one of the biggest issues was the i cockpit, people complained
about the steering wheel interferring with the view to the dash, of course you look over the wheel in the 308,
as you do in the 208 and where it could be slightly intrusive, it was easy to live with.
The 3008 doesn't have this issue, the small steering wheel makes for a go cart type feel, the good view from
most of the windows, the rear is a little restrictive, good standard of equipment, including safety equipment and
the latest i cockpit is standard across the range.
On the road the car is very good, handling for a vehicle of this size means you can still have some fun, the ride
is firm but not overly and it can absorb bumps and potholes with little to no feedback through the steering wheel
or nasty bangs off the suspension, body roll is also kept to a minimum.
The pictures don't really do this car any justice, the seats in mine have covers on otherwise they would be half
leather and very nice, really comfortable to sit in on long journeys.
So here she is in Magnetic Blue, my 2ltr BlueHDI GT Line with Grip control and the panoramic roof
Oh and if anyone thinks this has poor build quality/bad electrics/bad reliability, you are in
for a bit of a shock

Bloody excellent. Peugeot really seemed to pour a lot of thought and effort into the design of the new 3008, vast improvement over the outgoing model. Love some of the design touches, that array of switches on the dashboard and the way the rear lights sort of blend into the tailgate. Yet to see one properly in the flesh but looking forward to doing so, hope a few more new Pugs will have this sort of design.
Ignore the posters slating it, they're likely just afraid that it has more road presence than their generic VAG dull box.

If i were given one of these for free, my first thing to do would be call the local dealer to see how much they'd pay for it.

Yes the gear lever is taken from the DS5. The arrival timing for the new 3008/5008 and the DS 7 is too much of a coincidence for them not to all be related, as a DS owner and general admirer, I'm quite looking forward to seeing the new 7 in a showroom at some point. They look quite interesting. In fact I'm sure I've seen that manual gear lever before...is it from the DS5 perchance?
Cheers guys, for those who are criticising, not a problem, it wont be to everyones taste, but go and see one in the flesh as it looks far better than on a phones camera
Interior plastics are of a very good quality, Peugeot have really shown that they mean business with the 3008/5008, no 4x4 yet but a 3008 hybrid and supposedly a hot version with 300 ponies due next year.
Anyone with a mk2 308 diesel may notice this, but it may be that Peugeot changed the gear ratio's on the SUV, it just seems that little bit livlier even though its the same 2ltr Bluehdi as my previous 308.

I personally dont think Peugeot have got it wrong, Renault, VW and Seat are where this car is aimed at and they all have a 4x4 version, but really how many of those would ever take them off road?
I am not thinking many, maybe down a bumpy track and you require hight clearance rather than 4wd for that.
The hardest thing most modern 4x4's have to deal with are kerbs but Peugeot do have the Grip Control option (something similar was fitted to the Dakar winning fwd car), and looking at the vids in youtube when its facing mud and snow, it does do quite well

So as you can see in the photo, trip2 shows 45mpg, thats my combined over the 300ish miles ive done, about 100 in town and the rest on the motorway.
Motorway average is 55mpg and around 33 in town so not too bad, should improve a little when the engine starts to get a few more miles on her
Overall I think Peugeot are on to a winner here, if they can produce cars like this and retain the quality and reliability then I think their future will be pretty good, just dont go back to the 00's when they produced some really pants cars like the 206 gti 180 and the 307....
