I'm not surprised really. It's just a pain.

Thought of this when I saw a program the other day where they got a black SL55 that had got a little toasty int he boot and needed a new wiring loom, miraculously it fired up first time after much splicing of wires.....thinking it was abridged for the programme, but then they proceeded to ruin it by stickign a gash kit on it and painting it luminous orange ffs, utter do

Junkyard empire it was called.

Bother.

Cars don’t like to be left sitting for that long so there are bound to be some teething niggles; I hope this is nearly the end of them for you.

I bought my 911 in 2006 and it had only done 1,800kms in the preceding 7 years. The previous owner got the new clutch and release fork…but my first few months involved 6 fans for hot/cold/AC/condenser, a door seizing open (grease sticking), clutch master and slave cylinders, HT leads, distributor, etc, etc, etc (in addition to tyres, brakes and a monster recommissioning service).

Great stuff. Any advisories?

Any other to-do items?

Hope you're using the car and she is behaving. A decent thrashing (once warm) followed by one more engine oil and filter change is probably no bad thing.

Just tyres and rusty discs so nothing bad.

I replaced the gearbox oil while I was doing the cooler and pipe as well as the coolant.

So far so good

Congrats on the MOT well deserved. Nice to see a neglected car brought back to condition and used as intended. I'm hoping the weather improves here to get mine out on a trip.

Poster on MBclub talking about buying an SL that sounds very much like this one, is it now for sale?

I did put it up for sale as I have a few other commitments but I didn't get an offer that covered my costs so I'll keep.it and iron out a few more faults.

I've just sold my daily car and now need something big ish but that's another story.
