Looks great, I almost had one as my first car, but ended up with a very reliable if boring Peaugeot 309xl!

2 doors were not sold in the U.K. There are some imports around though, and would be the one I would pick.

I do like 80's VW's but they normally like to rust for fun, so looks like you are very lucky with that one.

Great work, I've just taken my old 86 GTI Jetta out of storage and will be rebuilding it shortly. Good luck

Thanks Andy, would be interested in hearing more about your Jetta gti. Not many of them left now.

Sorry, I logged in with a very old account that I never used last time. Its been off the road for almost ten years but is still sound, I replaced the rear arches sometime back as they were rotten but everything else seems good. being one of the earlier ones its and 8v with small bumpers and quarter light windows. All standard including the same radio as yours (I had to remove the coat hanger to get the cover on).

Looks mint. Will be great to get it back on the road after ten years.

I enjoyed my Jetta 16v, E33WUM, which replaced a mark 2 8v Golf.

It was a lovely petrol blue colour with grey cloth, Blaupunkt stereo and BBS wheels.

After the Golf, (in common with all the contemporary road tests) I thought it lacked low-down torque, but went well enough in the higher end of the Rev range.

Highlights include 130mph on the Mulsanne Straight.

I sold it purely on the huge hike in insurance, buying a Clio 16v instead.

If my memory serves correct, the car had a longer second gear than the Golf 16v, allowing it to hit 60 in second, therefore posting a better 0-60 time than the Golf
