I know it's a pain but is there any chance you could pop the photos on a different hosting site and edit your posts? They're just a frustrating set of ransom demands at the moment and I'd love to see the pics. frown

That's awesome I did see that for sale in the news but hadn't spotted the Stolly! To think it probably swam out there too. I think I'm right in saying there's a nearby military firing range and testing area at Kirkcudbright as well so it may be from there.
I will indeed take the time to edit my posts soon, it's been on the list of things to do for a while as it's ruined multiple great threads! For now it seems easier to upload on the Thumbsnap thing directly on here

Fabulous, ref the one with the "selectable" drive mode, that seems a sensible thing to do and if it keeps more ont eh road and being driven I am all for it.

Photos should be all but fixed now chaps, I've half got the hang of Flickr now instead of paying those bds at Photobucket for the privilege

Awesome. Only just seen this thread. We had a ride in a stolly at the 50th anniversary champ camp at evesham. The guy said his best tip was to put your spanners on strings and tie them to your wrists when you're working on the engine so you can retrieve them! Sound of the B81 is awesome. cloud9 We've got lots of champ spares so if there's any common parts you need, feel free to drop me a pm.

Very kind of you to offer mvm, they are great fun aren't they! The first and last time I went in one was at Wild Trax years ago and as I'd sprained my ankle at the time I managed to loose my footing and fall over in the back biggrin
Progress has more or less stopped completely at the moment as we're off to the War and Peace show next week in the Ferret and I've been flat out getting my Dad's 1977 Dodge pickup all sorted for him. The engine was pissing oil out from everywhere and on stripping it all down the front inner wings and headlight panel were found to be completely rotten too. A bit more than the weekend job I was hoping for!

Just to add has your Dad been out and about in the Champ much recently? I'm sure I remember you saying it wasn't getting the use so much anymore. Would love to drive one to compare to my Series Landy, leagues ahead I imagine

Pretty sure its not been MOT'd this year. I've been too busy working on my house to do anything with it as well. The ride is incredible compared to a landy, you can run it off a kerb at 20mph and barely feel it.

Well, we have just returned from the War and Peace Revival down in Kent having stayed for a few days with my little Ferret. It is an absolutely superb show and I'd urge anyone to go, you'll never see anything quite like it.

Playing Nazi Zombies in the back of Matt's Bedford biggrin
We spotted another of Trevor's old Stollies there, his full runner that he'd owned since 1996. We got chatting to the new owner Dave, a fantastically jolly and friendly chap with a taste for incredibly bright shirts and Stalwarts, having owned five over the past 13 years!

Anyway having chewed the fat he took us out across the site at serious speed in the back of thing, and absolutely hammered it round the arena over the bumps and through the dirt. It was just absolutely fantastic, I couldn't wipe the smile off of my face for hours!

Matchbox did a toy Stalwart in white with BP EXPLORATION logos, but I don't know if this was based on a real-life example or not. Can't find any pictures on Google to back it up.

Awesome! The owner of the white one I have tried to get in contact with as I'm told he has a set of tyres possibly for sale. Much needed!

I planned to have a crack at the old beast today but unfortunately had the pleasure of replacing the window regulator on my Skoda Fabia thanks to the cable snapping. Been driving around with a piece of 2x2 holding the glass up for a week biggrin
Nevertheless, I did have a closer look at a few bits and pieces including taking the inspection plates off of the fuel tank. It is not good in there! Whilst I was sat in the hull I had a good look over the transfer box as I believe that is where the driveline fault lies. I may be wrong but it looks as if front left hand output bearing has shat itself and exposed the race outside the casing

I enjoy Pistonheads mainly because it fills my head with random knowledge which is usually of little real value, and after reading this amazing post i was quietly sitting in the office in Singapore, looking for an island home somewhere slightly less tropical, and this Alvis Stalwart popped up on screen:

So now I can buy Little Ross Island in Scotland for just £325,000, and not only do i escape the tropics, get my own light house, i guess they are throwing the Alvis in for free?
What a fantastic Island!
Wish my job allowed for 3 month summer breaks...
