I've never found an Android unit that worked that well tbh, hence why I tend to stick with the OE kit. If I can't stream music then it isn't the end of the world. It does have an AUX port, it would just be easier to control from the H/U.

My car does have H/K speakers. It is the best audio I've ever had in a car lol.
how about this?
I have a version in my Volvo and love the fact it integrates with all the existing factory audio

Regarding Android units, I've always found them to be very good. I've had two Erisin units, one in my E39 M5 and another in my E46 330i. I'm about to put a third in my E46 M3. The sat nav software they come with, iGo, I've always found to be very good. The units have been very good regarding connectivity for audio and calls to my various Android phones and my wife's iPhone. You can also use Torque with a Bluetooth or USB adaptor, which is always fun.

For me, there is no contest between a new Android unit and a ten to fifteen year old OEM sat nav unit with bits attached to it to give it a bit more functionality. I have attempted to persevere with OEM sat navs with add-on units in the past and I've found them to be fairly clumsy.

That is my thinking regarding the Android units, the NTG 2.5, the later one with the memory card slot was ok but the maps were out of data and it was a bit clunky, stuck it on Ebay and got £350 off a bloke in Estonia for it, bought the cheapest Android unit I could find, £189 for a refurbed one as didnt want to spend a load of money and they all looked by and large the same.

Aside from a connector required for the Sat Nav aerial, to connect to the OEM one (£6) it didnt cost anything else.

I just put my phone into wireless hotspot mode, the unit spots it and I fire up spotify and let it do its thing, if there is a better way to do it let me know !

Radio reception isnt that great but apparently that is easily sorted, it does Bluetooth calling quite well but to be honest I am not in the car that much to really get the best from it.

I put extensions on the USB cables to the ashtray/cubby area, one Iphone and one Micro USB so I can charge on whilst moving without wires trailing everywhere.

Obviously can install whatever you want on it, can watch tv whilst waiting somewhere, dont need a TV tuner, just Iplayer or whatever other video App, as long as you have a data connection.

Waze is a revelation after the built in nav or sticking my TomTom to the dash, does all the speed camera warnings in real time and routes round traffic.

If you do go for one, just read up on doing it, its not that difficult, think you need two extra cables to the HK amp, loads of info out there.

Honestly, it is worth it, brings the cars "infotainment" upto modern-ish standards, best you will get without buying a new car, and the units are designed to fir the 211/219 dash so fit right in.

MB4 has arrived so I'll be testing that tonight.

I may look at an Android unit at some point, for now I will stick with what I have.

I tried mine as a music player for my Iphone, much easier, honestly, sell the old Merc one and get an Android one.

And had a go with a 64 plate E63 earlier, expected arse on a plate, only got a small starter.

I picked up my 212 today. It's bloody lovely but getting Bluetooth streaming and dab in the bloody thing looks to be a bit challenging.

Fellow E55 pilot here. Bought my estate 3 weeks ago for absolutely bottom of the budget money. So far so good - high miles at 159k but seems to be in rude health. The engine is just epic.

If you are looking to sell that MBU3000, let me know. It would be good to get some phone connectivity in the car.

Sorry mate, I sold it before I saw this post.

I think I sold it too cheap as well!

This one.

It's sublime. Not fire breathing V8 sadly but it still shifts being the 350cdi.

I have a confession to make though. I've not had it 24hrs yet and already I've mangled the front drivers alloy!! They were all perfect too, I am fking gutted. I've never kerbed an alloy...aaarggghh!!!!

Changed the grill today. The old one is in the bin. Whichever of the previous owners who fitted wants some stern words in their direction! Bolt missing, another bolt use was the cheapest ****tiest bolt ever. It fought me all of the way off. I had to snap the grill to even get anything on it.

Looks better now though. I may go for a black chrome one or something at some point.

Definitely worthwhile taking the time to swap it over though!
I hate finding previous owners bodges and having to rectify.

Cheers guys.

I need 2 screws to fit it fully, they obviously got misplaced. I was going to put the original air boxes back on but it started to rain.

Considering ordering one of these to take over the charge cooling duties for the s/c.

I know someone who uses one and it seems to work. Split cooling is an option in the future. I aren't convinced about using the Killer Chiller option as while this runs off the A/C so will cool the water, I aren't convinced about the cost and the strain it will put on the A/C kit.

That looks very similar, but being FTP I bet it was not cheap. The one I am looking at is £201.30 delivered.
