I hear you, but then some of my favourites have been a bit slow too. But as long as it's fun that's the main thing.
How are you coping with the width, or is it not as bad as I'm imagining?
It looks great btw, keep up the good work!

Width wise it probably isn't as bad as you imagine, the car is small to start with so, if you have nothing to scale it against, it looks quite wide.
Stupidity in full blown action this morning...
Was passing the local Renault dealer end of last week and called in to order some new wiper blades, simple enough. Called in this morning to collect only to be told they were now obsolete and no longer available! A set of wiper blades obsolete?
Even the parts guy was speechless.
Anyhow, new steering wheel is on and it's amazing how nice it is to lose the bus wheel and, seats have arrived! Being fitted next week.
Took the plunge on a set of KW V3 and now waiting for those to be made....seems to be a great deal of waiting going on

That looks great. I expected it to look a bit to classic, but it looks spot on!
Excellent car btw OP, definitely one of the all time great loony cars . Since a couple of months, one is parked in the underground car park where I park my cars and it reminded me of how much road presence these things have, it looks epic standing still. Enjoy it!

Still having to be Mr Patient here,
Waiting for a call to say my coilovers have arrived and hopefully when they do, I won't have to wait an age for a date for fitting,
Managed to source a BNIB set of PH2 alloys, possibly be able to collect next week at the earliest but, yet more waiting for the reqd 20mm spacers to arrive.
On the bright side, at least my new tyres have arrived

Ooo La la.
She's coming on nicely now!
Seen a blue ph2 in the wild in South Kensington last week. It was there 2 days in row so presume it's a residents car. Well used by the looks of it. Great to see these cars in the flesh as opposed to sitting inside someones garage.
Are you expecting big handling improvements with the 18s and coilovers?

Not expecting big handling improvements as such, talking to Scott about it and he was saying that the wallowing would disappear. That alone would be a huge improvement to be fair and anything over and above that would be a bonus! I'm still going to be acutely aware of the back end trying to get in front. She's coming on nicely now!

It will also give me the opportunity to lower it slightly, nothing excessive. Just enough to get it to "sit" a little better.
Rightly or wrongly, I'm keen on getting a car to "sit" right and to me the 18" wheels help to get that effect.
The seats and steering wheel have changed how the car feels to drive tremendously and getting the suspension sorted will only help that.
Once the KWs are on there won't be any more changes planned. Have no interest in spending a fortune in chasing minimal gains in power. On a few previous cars getting both the suspension and set-up sorted have made huge gains how the cars felt when pushing on a bit.

Coilovers now fitted and set to relatively firm, new spherical bearing top mounts also fitted and the thing feels like a different car. It is so much more responsive.
Cloudy foglights have had a yellow tint film as opposed to being replaced and...I like them.
PH2 rear lights also fitted.
Quite a few more things in the pipeline, these things never seem to be finished do they

Lovely car! Sitting really well with the coilovers and Ph2 wheels. Not convinced by the yellow fog lights though.
The more I look at these, the more I think the Ph1 models look slightly better than the Ph2 and will probably be the better long term prospect in terms of future values. They almost look classic already with their bug eye looks. I do however like the side ducts in silver as per the Ph2 models and I think this will make the Ph1 mars red and illiad look more modern.

What size spacers have you got front and rear, any rub at all with the coilovers?
Sits so well and the stance is perfect with the spacers, tempted to get some myself.

15mm fronts.
No rubbing whatsoever, coilovers are set towards the firm side but still way better than the oem stuff.
Not to everyones taste but, it isn't everyones car

I thought it was worth a try with the fogs as one was starting to get a bit cloudy, turned out it wasn't sealing too well between the lens and the casing. Happy with the way they turned out as the film cost was minimal. As with the spacers, not to everyones taste but we don't want them all looking the same do we The more I look at these, the more I think the Ph1 models look slightly better than the Ph2 and will probably be the better long term prospect in terms of future values. Not too worried about values as this car is more or less a daily. Although with being retired it doesn't have to do the slog to and from work in crappy traffic. I like both Ph1 and Ph2 but for me, it was only ever going to be a Ph1.
Back out in the wild for a bit, other bits on order so just waiting for those to turn up.
Trophy rear spoiler to be repainted and refitted, Trophy front splitter to go on when it arrives and 2 piece brake discs also to go on when they arrive.
Brake calliper colour to be changed to yellow also.
Also in the pipeline are exhaust manifolds and sport cats.
It's getting there

This is why I searched for a Ph.1 - I didn't expect the V6 to be the last word in handling, feedback or speed so I really wanted the one I felt looked the best and for me; that was one of the handful of Ph.1 cars in Illiad blue. The fact it appears to have been a good investment is a pleasant upside. But sadly it doesn't get modified.OP - Car looks great and, perhaps surprisingly with my garage queen V6, I really admire the fact that you're tuning to your tastes etc. I almost bought a repaired Cat D car to have two (one I was willing to modify) but just missed out... It was only £7.5k and that was <3yrs ago
Keep the updates coming!

We're no doubt in different age groups which puts a different slant on things. This will be my last car whereas you'll be keeping an eye on V6 values.OP - Car looks great and, perhaps surprisingly with my garage queen V6, I really admire the fact that you're tuning to your tastes etc. I almost bought a repaired Cat D car to have two (one I was willing to modify) but just missed out... Already had my "investment" car ( M3 CSL) and it didn't sit too well with me, frustrating to looking at it in the garage and being scared to put mileage on it. Retired now ( early retirement though ) so wanted a car that, unless something seriously went wrong, would only be sold once I'm cooling down in a jamjar on the mantlepiece. Just in case it ever had to go, everything that has been removed from the car has been stored away so any future purchaser has the option to keep as is or revert to standard.
It's also a fairly low mileage car for its age, 43,000 now, and is more or less used as a daily. No backwards and forwards on a work run in heavy traffic is a bonus though.
By the time it's finished, if it ever can be called finished, it will be exactly how I want it.
As you said, they're never going to set any benchmarks in handling, feedback or speed however, there isn't much to beat them when it comes to character and lunacy. All of its faults are forgotten as soon as the garage door is opened
