I think you're probably, mostly correct in your summary although it wasn't bought with the intention of being an investment, even though it's looking increasingly like one (and I bought another hot hatch to completely rebuild and modify, to keep my hands dirty).

That quote is absolutely spot on though. Always find it hard to explain what it is about the V6. It really is my all time favourite hatch, if not car (wouldn't say no to an F40 etc). They're just so 'cool'.

This is why I searched for a Ph.1 - I didn't expect the V6 to be the last word in handling, feedback or speed so I really wanted the one I felt looked the best and for me; that was one of the handful of Ph.1 cars in Illiad blue. The fact it appears to have been a good investment is a pleasant upside. But sadly it doesn't get modified.
You did well to find an Illiad, they're already a modern classic and very rare. I see we work in the same industry so hope its keeping you busy at the min!

Busy, just about... In new toys? Not anymore frown Hope you're still gainfully employed and all that!

Mine is chassis 002 and very, very low mileage. Think there may only be another one or two left here. Weirdly I live by Cobham and the other I definitely know of is in Chobham.

Makes me smile every time I open the garage - wonderful thing. I also drive it quite regularly (weekly) considering we have other cars and the dog is usually with me/ us and isn't allowed near the V6. We have some great roads round this way too.

Anyway - looking forward to more updates from the OP!

Great work moktabe!

I like the yellow fogs too, in-keeping with the car.

Having driven the car for a few days now since the KWs have been fitted, all I can say is....what a difference! It feels like a different car, no rolling about, steering feels way more direct plus, although this is subjective, it looks better sat a little lower.

It'll be laid up again for a few days once the 2 piece discs arrive. Whilst they're being fitted, the callipers will be done and the KWs will be lowered another 2 or 3 mm to see how it drives and sits. Have also bought some Black Pearl tyre dressing to try, supposed to be long lasting and and has some good reviews, worth a try.

Another thing that's likely to be VERY subjective is.....tyre lettering biggrin

Thoughts on this are, the car is sitting quite low, the wheels are as far to the edges as is sensible, it's shortly having the madcap Trophy spoiler refitted and it'll be having a Trophy front splitter fitted as soon as it arrives...to rephrase it, it looks as aggressive as it can be looks wise which has been the intention.

The stickers aren't going to be the cheap ass peel and stick variety, have gone for the permanent raised rubber bonded on sort from TireStickers. Max height I can get away with due to tyre sidewall height is 1.25" so, will see how they look biggrin

If they look a bit BarryBoy I'll be off down Halfrauds for a set of long nose pliers to prise them off again!

If we don't try these things we never know.

Example here, but only one per wheel.

Flame suit on biggrin

Loving what you’ve done with the Clio so far, looks outstanding.

My 2p on the tyre stickers... I think if you went with the proper Michelin logo (blue, white, yellow with Bibendum on it) to replicate the motorsport tyres, it’d probably look epic. But just white lettering... a bit Barry.

Might be worth a little photoshopping first?

I see your point but, it's too late as they're sat on the kitchen table!

Originally looked at the ones you mention but what put me off was the size I was limited to. 1.25" is the max height and, looking at the ones with the blue background I thought there would be too much squeezed into a relatively small place i.e the lettering would've been too small.

Time will tell, when car is back in for the other bits will try on one tyre, stand back and have a look and either the other 3 will be done or the stickers will live in the garage in the box marked "good ideas at the time" biggrin

Looked at these..https://www.kppigments.com/tire-lettering/michelin-tire-sticker-black-white.html

It's the only way,

If it works then great, if it doesn't then at least it was tried.

The car went into the detailers today for the spoiler repair and test fit prior to painting. When it's in the painters the 4 holes on the top will be filled as the mounting bolts are now epoxied in, mounting holes always seem to make things look aftermarket. Did a bit of a try out with the stickers and just taped one on, I like it! Will decide on either 1 or 2 per wheel when they're off the car, have a feeling that an 18" wheel will look too busy with 2 on.

I have had a set of tire stickers on my wheels for the life of my current tire. They are badass! About to order another set only because my treads are wearing down and I need new tires.
