I agree, the livery looks great.
I think a nice V6 XXX private plate would be a nice touch.
Not the worlds biggest fan of private plates tbh.

Inherited one on a previous car and always planned on reverting it back to its original VRN but never got around to it.

Excellent choice!

Will be interested to hear your thoughts on the effects of reduced unsprung weight.

They must have cost a pretty penny

Cheers.

As soon as they're with me tyres will go on along with the tyre decals.

They'll go on the car for a test fit and maybe a pic or two smile.

Won't see the road until Spring at the earliest though.

I've only just seen this thread, just read it all. There is something about these that just puts a huge child like smile my face.... Probably the last 'wacky' car i remember Renault making.

The Livery vinyls suit the car perfectly, if you don't mind me asking..... what company did you use? I have an idea for one of my vehicles in the future and i'm a bit particular how i want them doing.

That train, I've been there too. When the satnav said "join the train" we didn't know what was going on... the noise of the thing, sounded like it was rattling itself to bits and it doesn't hang about either!

Apologies but don't get here that often so have only just seen this.

The grey wrap was done by Blueprint in Notts and they made a great job. Have been asked a few times if it's paint.

The decals and their layout was decided between myself and the detailer guy who looks after all the cosmetic stuff on the car. The decals were made by a mate of his and they took us about 2 days to apply....he's a bit fussy and doesn't rush, not a bad thing though.

Anyhow, car's back in with him now. Decals applied to tyres, brake cooling ducts fitted, no way am I going to need brake cooling but, if building a sort of Trophy rep, they need to be on.

Was palnned to be done Fri pm and Sat but we ran out of time so wheels will go on tomorrow, he'll put some sealant stuff on the car and that'll be it until Spring work wise.

Wheels were sealed with gTech EXO as apparently a few problems have been occurring with the C5 stuff.

Car looks great. Fantastic fun, I have many found memories. Stupidly sold my 30k mile, perfect example for £10k about 5 years ago. A minute later it was worth £25k frown

Dont comment very often but that looks absolutely stunning!!!
How does it compare know from when you originally bought it?
These had the widow maker reputation, but with the aero mods and suspension changes, is this no longer the case?
Would love to see you tube clip of this?
Are you planning any further mods or is this know perfect for you??cloud9

Completely different now.

Suspension wise, the original set up meant the back end could feel quite wallowy. The KWs were set to give quite a firm ride and it was much better, the rears have since been made 1 click firmer and it's a noticeable difference when accelerating out of a corner, it just seems to bite now.

The above applies in the dry biggrin. With the rear wheels being 9" wide it gives a fair amount of rubber on the road so it would (hopefully) be quite difficult to unstick. In anything worse than mildly damp conditions I still regard it as maybe being a bit on the dodgy side so drive with a lighter right foot.

Aero wise, the first thing that was fitted was the rear spoiler. Immediately noticeable how light the front end became if pushing on a bit, actually made it feel a bit dangerous. Got in touch with a guy who makes one or two different replica V6Trophy parts, one of those parts happened to be a front splitter.

Had very little faith it'd do anything at all apart from make the front end look finished, no idea on aerodynamics here. The difference was honestly quite unbelievable, it made it feel as though it was hugging the road like a limpet.

With the wheels, managed to source a set of Ph2 wheels which in themselves took some finding. Although the same width they seemed to make the car ride better, maybe a placebo effect as they looked better with being 18s rather than 17s.

Then ended up with a set of Cromodoras! If I'm honest I wasn't prepared for how different they'd make the car feel. Grip should be better due to the widths, Fronts are 1" wider and rears are 0.5" wider. The lack of weight in them was very surprising. Had never driven a car with lightweight race wheels prior to these, the car seems to feel more alive....everyday road bumps don't get felt as much and steering is a fair bit lighter. Also I think they suit the car perfectly biggrin

Feels like a completely different car, it's how Renault should have turned them out.

Mods?

Are they ever finished?

Late March / early April it will be having a pair of branched manifolds and a pair of sport cats...should breathe out a bit better than the lumps of pig iron that are currently masquerading as manifolds and the 4 cats that are on it now. Already sorted the induction side with an ITG canister intake so, once it can breathe out a bit better it isn't going to make any bhp but will make it use what it has more efficiently.

Later next next year I'll likely look into sorting a half cage out for it.
