Agree for the 10mpg, but why explode? Well mapped cars, especially this one that has been forged can last for long track sessions without any issues, proved over and over again, while stock cars stop performing due to overheating.
My point is the risk of something going wrong mechanically is far lower when driving responsibly and even under hard acceleration, you're only using the performance for a very short period. That's different to running it flat out, under load for a prolonged period where components working outside their design specification are more likely to fail. Events like VMax are great for killing modified cars for this reason. Your point about mapping is entirely correct though.

TBH one of the reasons I run at vmax was to test if the engine would take it (and it was stock at the time, before I forged it) and it did perfectly well even with quite a few top speed runs on that day!

Love this, its like a bigger stealth Golf R, have to hand it to VW, they have built a pretty amazing engine that will take double its power output quite happily.

I love the Golf R but the theft aspect worries me, hopefully, especially with the tdi greenline badges this will just not be on their radar, would be fun to just turn up with your taxi sign on and pick up a fare and hoof it biggrin

This thing is incredible! Have you done any acceleration vids? Carbon tips/diffuser looks excellent.

Hate the blacked out badges, not sure I'll ever understand why people think an ugly black blob on the car looks better than standard ones.

But... I love everything else about it and as a VRs owner this car is genuinely a dream car of sorts. The sleeper aspect is great and I think it's a really handsome car in the first place. Must be great fun to drive.

Well, for one with the standard badge everywhere was asking me what model my Vauxhall is... smile Also I blackened all chrome bits on the car so the badges were the last piece to be done to match. These are actually sold in black from a Skoda parts retailer, I did not blacken them myself.

Tremendous fun! Surprisingly well behaved for a car of this size and power.

This car has genuinely made me appreciate new Skoda's far more than their Audi/VW counterparts. I love the everyday usability and the mods done to this car. An excellent sleeper.

If I was in a position for a car this size, I'd really consider one of these.

TL:DR - Me likes this. biggrin

Santa Pod - Superb Stage 3 - 11.7 sec @ 121.74mph with a, very slow, 2 sec 60ft

With a good launch this had the potential of an 11.1-11.2 seconds run
Time for better dragstrip tyres next year !

4WD, more leg room and boot space. Cheaper (even after mods) than a brand new C63 (or, actually, the E63 which would be the equivalent),
And very importantly Different (always liked that), and a sleeper.
Love your car!

I've got an E Class estate and my FIL has a Superb estate and the difference in rear leg room is huge. In fact it's vast inside.

His is the Laurent Whatitsname one and has tons of kit - only thing that lets it down is the nasty 4 pot diesel.

Didn't know you could get it with a 280 petrol.....and tune it.

Excellent!

Top sleeper.
