1978 Lancia Beta 1600 Coupe
Discussion
Lovely looking car.
In 1986 I purchased a 1981 Lancia Beta 2000 HPE. I made about six trips to the dealer crawling underneath looking for rust before pulling the trigger. Of course there wasn't any ( As soon as I got it home we undercoated the whole thing just in case but that was the paranoia back then) .
I filled it up on the way home and some guy commented on the car at the petrol station. He said 'nice car but for that price I would have got a Triumph Stag, that thing will never hold its value.' ..err thanks but he was probably right. However as a 19 year old a 2 litre double overhead cam and cheap insurance stole the show.
It went back within a week due to the head gasket being shot, that was sorted Over the next two years the only things that went wrong was the temp gauge packing up, the headlining becoming unstuck and literally falling on me. I sold it on as got posted elsewhere but still have fond memories.

You're a week early, but nom nom nom
Thanks.
I've just:
Jump-started the MR2 off the Subaru
Parked the Subaru on the street
Moved the MR2 to the front lawn
Put the Subaru back in the drive
Used the Subaru to run the compressor
Pumped up the soggy tyre on the boat trailer
Put boat battery #1 on charge
Stopped for a
Still to do
Charge boat battery #2
Borrow fuel pump & multiple jerry cans
Pump 50+ litres of stale fuel out of the boat
Then I can finally go fishing!
Thanks.

In a triumph for older vehicles, all 3 started first time (when provided with electrons), despite the MR2 not having been started for about a year, and the boat for over two!
Could you use some 2.5 year old low-octane unleaded? I'm soon to have an awful lot spare (somewhere between 40 and 120 l)
*pick up only. No warranty. YMMV.
How's the Aurelia coming along?

Aurelia? I WISH! Appia yes, Aurelia no. Appia lovely.
Think will give the petrol a body swerve, cheers all the same. Maybe sell it as cheap hooch?
Aurelia / Appia - my turn for a brain fart!Think will give the petrol a body swerve, cheers all the same. Maybe sell it as cheap hooch?
I only drank one small can, I swear. It is, however, the best premix G&T around, IMO.
The old fuel will go in the Subaru, at about 40% mix.
It's an old Outback, so will run on almost anything.
I've just realised my "new" car is 23 this year - I think I'm failing at consumerism
