Hmmm, I tend to park in this area if I can't get a spot within the Royal Free. Have had rather a lot of appointments there this year...

You may already know this: there are four hour pay by phone slots in Belsize Park Gardens, and two hour slots near the tube.

I had a Volumex HPE. Lots of fun - very torquey.

The 1600 was stuck in reverse because of failed plastic balljoint socket.

AA bloke has bodged the balljoint so that I can now select gears and hopefully drive the car to a local garage for a proper fix.

Indeed I do. In fact, one of my appointments overran by half an hour, and I got back to the car, expecting a ticket. There was none. Result.

I just saw the black Montecarlo driving past again, so it must live locally. It is very groovy.

OMG... If I ever grow up enough to buy a house with a garage, I’m there! Sod the 7 series & the M6, that, right there is just perfect.

Mech reports:-

Lancia - the gear linkage bush that I ordered in was too small - shame as it is the perfect shape. Three bushes are fitted (same size as the broken one), the two remaining ones are brittle and cracked also. There are two small ones on a steady bar which again need replacing. I decided to take the complete linkage assembly out so I could restore it fully - including gear lever. It’s a very clever design and easily serviceable once out. I’ve brought it all back with me to prep here & save time next visit, refitting will be simple - prob 30mins.

Great news. This sort of tech offers lots of hope for classic nerds, with so many parts being NLA.

Out of interest, do the demister elements on the rear windscreen still work?

That's good news. The ones I've had were erratic. By the time I sold the 635 in 2014, only two bars were working. On the CX, I've no idea if they work because I can't find the switch!

The rear demister on my Lotus Eclat works but is rubbish. The one on my Dolomite doesn't work. The one on my Rover SD1 (now sold) half worked. In my Sherpa campervan the rear demister is called my daughter. In my UMM pickup truck the rear demisting is done with the elbow.
