This is excellent! You’re brave parking on JP’s grass though!

Brilliant! Bet it's good on fuel too? I can nudge 38mpg in my Cup on a run, obvs mpg not a priority with something like this, but it's another bonus on a very versatile machine.

Only thing I'd maybe change is the wheels to steels with a decent width, not a criticism of the current wheels, it looks fab as it is.

Why is it that, whenever I come to a ppbb thread, I leave with a strong desire to own the car featured?

Whether it's a Minardi F1 car, a hypergalactic Porsche or a Renault van. One of the few reasons to visit Pistonheads nowadays.

Now, back to Autotrader in search of an RX8 PZ...

So the van is officially awesome!

At 5PM on Friday last week we decided that as we had an entry for the Javelin sprint series at Cadwell that weekend and no vehicle to run in it we'd take the van and sprint that.

Some Friday afternoon prep involved firmly affixing the engine to the chassis, enabling the selection of 4th gear and fitting a new set of tyres. Oh and the slight intake modifications mentioned previously:

Filling out a setup sheet for the van I noticed many boxes were somewhat redundant on our standard template:

But never the less we arrived at Cadwell full of expectation to be absolutely dead last and have a bloody good laugh doing it. I have to say the Javelin guys and all those competing were a great laugh and despite the weather we had some excellent banter with the other competitors - this little series really is a shining light in club motorsport where many championships these days are becoming more and more insular and far too serious for what is essentially hobby motorsport that is meant to be fun.

Conditions were terrible with at least two rivers running over the circuit and "under the trees" worse than I've ever known it. The van did its best and it didn't even fall off although the body roll was something else!

More amazingly than anything else we weren't last! Actually quite a long way from it ending up 66th out of 80 runners and up on a variety of things including an Evo, a Caterham and an Elise!

Great fun way to spend a Sunday and I highly recommend the Sprint Series to anyone wanting some not too serious motorsport fun!

Thats an excellent result! Glad to hear the Sprint series is not taken too seriously..I understand an Alfa 147 won it last year, It would be something I would like to have a go in, are you timed on the track or in the sprints whilst nobody else is on track?

Timed whilst no one else is on track. It is run very similar to a hill climb where a set course is laid out on the circuit so in the case of Cadwell we were running around 7/8th of the circuit as the course.

Get the Sadev sequential gearbox in there!
Would be great but frequent and pricey rebuilds might be an issue.

We passed a few of this sized van. SWMBO said, they make sense. I tend to agree (apart from at angled junctions).

Nice van!

On a slightly more boring note, you appear to be missing the (admittedly heavy) block of cast metal that protects the fuel rail on the front of the head in the event of an accident? Might be worth finding and re-attaching one, just in case!

Not more than two weeks ago was I looking at Kangoos for this very project; pleased to see it is possible! Is much of it bolt on, like subframe, suspension etc? Or is it massive work?

Looks excellent, too. Absolutely love it.

Fantastic.

I had the cambelt & dephaser changed on my 172 at Engine Dynamics (Renault sport specialist). Nice selection of 172’s and 182’s outside including a nice turbo 182 but I was taken in by the 182 turbo kangoo!

Looks fantastic OP! I really wish I had known about this possibility when we were looking for a van for our business having had a few fast renaults in the family it would have been nice. There's one on ebay at the moment, looks quite good laugh

Amazing. I used to have the 1.5 DCI kangoo (was the one with most power, can't remember how much) and even then it was surprisingly quick! Such a silly little van to drive - you could choose between decent power and braking but crap handling when empty, or decent handling when full but slooooow 0-60 and even slower 60-0 when full laugh I loved it.
