So I've browsed the forums for years but never posted, but bored on a Sunday night thought I may as well. I've had about 21 cars since passing my test about 11 years ago with the plan of ticking off as many of my realistic dream cars as possible. Luckily for me I've managed to do most of them before turning 30!

My list up to now is:

1.2 Clio x 2
Lupo GTI
Volvo 360GLT
Clio 182
UKDM DC2 Type R
Megane R26
E46 330ci sport
Clio 172
E46 M3
Jag XJS (still owned)
Mk2 Focus RS
986 Boxster S
E46 M3
Clio V6
E46 320d
Cayman S
E90 M3
E39 530i
997.2 911 C2S
M2 (current)

Along with about 7 vans and 7 motorbikes, still got my S1000RR.

A few pics of my favourites:

My Dad bought the XJS brand new in '89, its covered less than 9000 miles and was left to me when he died. I'm trying to use it a bit more and it had a lot of money spent on it in the summer so it's about set up for next year now.

The M2 I bought brand new, only new car. Had to be a manual as the PDK in the 911 bored me to death. I've sold 3 M3's previously and regretted each one so getting a good deal on this was a no brainer, it seems quick BMW's are what keep me interested.

The S1000RR is my baby, mental machine that I couldn't be without.

I massively regret getting rid of my Clio V6, sold it due to buying a house and it seeming like the sensible move, despite them being completely rubbish it had the most character of any car and I miss it. Problem now is I got a great car for £17k, now they are going for high 20's I don't think I could justify it.

That's an amazing car history; I'm suitably impressed. What did you prefer between the E46 and E90 M3s?

I would probably have to say the E90...I think! The E46's were great, I had a manual and SMG and wanted another but couldn't find the perfect car so looked at the V8's and fell in love with the E90. E46's are brilliant but I think the E90 just does everything a little bit better, with the sound to boot.

Totally envious of your car history! I soooo want a Clio V6 despite everything you hear about them. I seem to recall Chris Harris saying similar when he had one long term.

You are joking right? Dull is never a word I'd use the only bad point is that with a bike so capable you have to sometimes reign yourself in, compared to the MV where you have to really work at it (which is great fun if slower progress) but I would never class the BMW as dull.

Love the M2- you say ‘a good deal’ - what can these be bought for brand new now there are plenty around?

Lovely Joe!

Frightening what the Clio V6’s are going for. Could kick myself for not buying one when they were 7/8k!
