Yes exactly the same but red, it's an evolution version with 225bhp and raced with mine in the last season of THP. It's a good car - seriously someone should buy it so we can two car team in OSS biggrin
Mmm. I know it's not all about the money but are they a sound investment?

They don't really depreciate as there is a very limited supply. If it's in good order then a 20K Euro car today won't drop anything like a 20K Euro recent road car will but the running costs can be high as the box is expensive to rebuild and a new set of slicks is a grand. It depends what you want to do with it - as a track day car they are probably cheaper than most road cars, as a race car then it pays to keep them in fine fettle which costs accordingly.

Your the reason I am wasting my life away on Pistonheads. Another topic bookmarked. Does this mean the 996 will be taking a back seat for a while?

Made me chuckle when you wrote nonchalantly oh it’s an easy job to rewrite the loom. Yeah like we all posses the skills to do it.

Looking forward to the updates.
Well it's only swap one plug over and reroute it to suit laugh

The 996 is my daily so it will still be clocking up the miles and having various bits done. The RX8 is also run in now and doing 10.5K RPM quite well smile

Nice car! Have you got any pics of the twin intercoolers? Dose it also run a rad each side?

Will be interesting to see what the lap times were for these.. will have to do some digging.

Something that's cropped up elsewhere recently. If you haven't got it already, can I suggest that you get the roll bar FIA certificate from Mygale to prove that it's compliant (it will be as it ran as an international series). This issue may need to be overcome if you plan to use it in UK events - it will be ok with the right certificate.

Twin ICs:

And yes one rad each side with a cross over pipe between them.

Coolant on one side:

And coolant with the two ICs on the other:

Oil cooling is via a water / oil heat exchanger mounted on the block.

2:01 around old Silverstone so fairly nippy for a 1600CC car engine'd thing.

I've already been on to Puegeot Sport who have helpfully sent me the manual and all the certs for the car but this is excellent advice for anyone else buying weird and wonderful stuff!

So another evening of tinkering and I think it's about there now. It's not really taken anything beyond a big clean and a few tweeks to get it there so very, very pleased as buying the one out of a barn that hasn't been used for ages is always a bit of a gamble!

Made some new grills for the rear to replace the missing one and ratty looking other:

Back end looks much more like it now, although the jury is out on whether to stick a shiney end on the exhaust can or not:

Setup showed it wasn't far out so clearly had some time into it previously. The move away from the setup sheet was what you would expect to see after a bit of hard circuit use and it's always good when there are the same amount of shims in each side and the car measures up square biggrin

Front end does look good now it's had new lights, I'll sort the splitter/lower bumper area out once I've shaken it down as it'll only get damaged during if I do it now.

It's really quite a nice thing now it's clean and presentable:

Runs a treat and the dash is much better now it's had a clean and spruce, it's quite a nice bit of kit with integrated OBD and lap timing. I'm going to reverse engineer the CAN to it so I can run a decent logger as the cars had no data beyond lap times.

Just need to shake it down now and see if I still have any pace laugh

Motor and box have had a big service and no issues apparent there so looking good, the motor is super clean inside but then it's only done 40 hours so it should be smile It's all looking a bit cleaner and more looked after in the back now

I wonder how much pressure drop there is over that setup? Any plans on making a bigger / less restrictive unit? Maybe moving to a single dual pass style cooler?

Idiot question - What does this carry over from a 207 apart from the headlights?

There was one of these at Bedford Autodrome on Saturday.

Certainly drew a few looks...

I remember seeing these at the Spa LMS race that year. We assumed they weren't much more than 207s with the roof chopped off and didn't pay much attention to them, didn't even watch them race. Clearly they're a bit more special than that, but a good amount of (relatively inexpensive) road car parts-bin consumables nontheless.

I want one now.

Just the head lights and engine. Uprights are from the 407 as are the brakes, steering column from the 206.

It was this one actually. We're based on BA biggrin

Had to run at 4500RPM in the morning (due to noise) and on 7 year old wets but just wanted to see if it all worked. Once we'd found some fresher tyres, changed the setup and welded another silencer together I was able to do a few laps in the afternoon before it tripped the meters again but at least we know it moves under its own power and has all the gears now laugh

Have a go in this one if you're at Bedford at any point. It's an interesting car to drive, feels a lot like a grippier 2-Eleven.
