Power Out E46 M3 manual build

M sport cars are generally brilliantly engineered in the first place and benefit little from being modified as they are in a high state of tune.
Hence why subframe floors crack, the tiny single pot brakes cook on track, the heavy, chintzy standard wheels crack and loose their laquer as you slide about on the heavy leather armchairs inside? It's a ten-a-penny mass produced saloon with a decently tuned engine, don't kid yourself into thinking that an E46 M3 is the be all and end all to driving pleasure from the factory. If you want to want to stop people modding their M3s then focus on the people putting cheap chinese cast CSL reps, cheap lowering springs and useless cheap airboxes / exhausts on ala most of the ones you find here. To criticise someone for doing reversible upgrades on the E46's weak points with actual decent parts is ridiculous.

Car looks good, not so keen on the exhaust mind!
I disagree with the not modifying a good example. You always try and start with a good base in the first place. Chasing issues just costs time and money, so starting with a good sound car makes sense to me.
Re the steering wheel, will you be putting the standard one back on for the MOT?

Are you using a coil over at the rear? If so, are you doing anything to strengthen the rear turrets?
It has been pointed out in the past that the rear turrets were not designed to take the force of a spring (only the damper). That said, I have never seen rears fail.
I believe the perfect answer is to do it with a full weld in cage.
Car is looking good.

Dream build gets better, are you gonna be modifying the bumper for the GSR exhaust? I think the Assist Kyoto 46 M3 ran a similar setup and had a really tidy rear bumper which made it look great
Not currently. Bimmerworld made one for single exhaust but i don't think its in production any more. Not really sure what to do about it but it doesn't bother me massively. Got more important things I need to get first. Assist is sick. That's a lovely looking car!
Are you based in Warwick? I noticed you are at Matt's. Seeing as I live around the corner I was wondering if I could check out your wings in the flesh; I'm debating getting a set of wings for mine and CF ones haven't been disregarded, like the GSR items you have. Their fitment however is a concern for me from having previous FG/pattern parts .

Im not in Warwick, I live in Nottingham just been to Matts as he's the guy for suspension. If you want perfect OEM fit then GSR aren't for you, also they have stopped making CF ones now, i think i got the last set. Collecting the car from him tomorrow evening. Are you based in Warwick?
