A few of my friends were; Ian Cook from Popbangcolour was one of them.

What did Matt do to your car besides the Nitrons and the geo? I'm intrigued to see what setup you have smile.

I would have been one of the 'Leave it standard' posters early on, but I would have been wrong! That looks fantastic, really menacing!

Some nice quality components too!

Tim

PS: If you strip out the interior, can I have the after market Double din please. :-)

Can you imagine if every reader's ride was a standard car? "Here is my standard car, I've just put air in the tyres and a new air freshener. I'll remove the air freshener for MOTs"

Nice one OP, keep it up.

How much were those alloys if you don't mind me asking? Also the exhaust and do you have a dB reading from it?

Are you using a coil over at the rear? If so, are you doing anything to strengthen the rear turrets?

It has been pointed out in the past that the rear turrets were not designed to take the force of a spring (only the damper). That said, I have never seen rears fail.

I believe the perfect answer is to do it with a full weld in cage.

Car is looking good.

Ive got BMW reinforcement plates added, should be enough
BMW don't make reinforcement plates for the rear? They do for the front which you will need with the smaller topmounts you're running.
I would strongly take tommi 's advice and get the rear strut towers tied in somehow, I've seen them fail using a real coilover with them.

You've put some top quality wheels, suspension and brakes on this, well done. Good to see proper parts being used!

Love it, as most people have also admitted (though I have a greater interest as I’ve also got an M3). What’s the noise like with the GSR exhaust? Somewhere between loud and ridiculous? I guess it can’t be that bad if you’re tracking it, or are you backing off passing the sound meter?

its actually not that loud at all. Its just a nice sound. Donington is very strict and I had no issues! was designed to pass Uk track limits

I was there for the BTCC media public open day on Tuesday. Fellow Nottingham lad here. I seriously considered and e46 m3 after my Porsche Cayman S but opted for a m135i instead I just couldn’t justify the extra cost of an M2.

Great mods by the way loving reading about your progress so far. Hope to see it one day. Do you ever do the cassington water bmw meet. I know there was also a big bmw meet at chatsworth house (derby) last year.

Very cool car, looking good.

Didn't know titanium studs were a 'thing'.

Is it just about saving unsprung weight/rotational inertia?

We've had concerns about galvanic corrosion of titanium in the presence of steel, I wouldn't have thought titanium studs were a great plan?

OP, check them regularly. The problem is any corrosion is probably not going to be visible without taking the stud out, but they really aren't the 2 best metals to mix.

I've been in a car when a wheel came off. It wasn't funny.

Well, it was later on, not at the time though!
I'll definitely research this. Titanium nuts and studs seem pretty common on high end stuff in Japan.

Nothing me and the misses are massive petrol heads and big BTCC fans. It’s free to the general public in the afternoon. Media in the morning then 4 hrs testing in the afternoon with access to the pits. Great free day.
