You're in Stamford? That's only half an hour or so from where I live.

Of course. Had a few nights out there whilst visiting RAF Wittering.

Liking this Olly, ive been thinking about getting one too but possibly a manual 525i.

Wondering how it will compare to the current LS400.

Have you had it up to motorway speeds yet? Are they fairly ‘hushed’ at NSL?

My dad had a manual one of these in diamond black (I think that was the name) in about 1991, F reg’d so a year or two old.
He loved it, did circa 100000 miles in 2 years in it. 18 mpg was about all it would do though, although back then 100 mph cruising on the motorways was pretty normal.
We got nicked for speeding on the autobahn while towing our caravan, the car pulled like it was solo, it was superb. Didn’t seem to make it much worse on fuel either.

They aren’t as refined as a ls400. The wipers and front screen generate quite a bit of wind noise. Don’t get me wrong it’s a nice place to be, just not as nice as a Lexus.
True that.

Dunno about the LS400, but the seats in my old E34 540 were a lot more comfortable than those in my LS430.

To be fair though, the 5 series is a class below the LS, the 7 series would be a better comparison.

Nice work there! It's good to have the valve cover off of one of these every so often. I've seen ones that have broken rocker arms before. Looks like oil changes have been performed at good intervals too.

Have you checked the rubber coupling "giubo" that connects the gearbox to the propshaft?

I think it's usually recommended to change both (centre bearing and coupling) at the same time.

That's weird, I was sure the E34 had the rubber coupling, and Google suggests it does too.

What’s the sitch with your tyres? I had a tyre go out of shape on my E34 which caused an alarming wobble through my botty.

My E34 shimmy journey was finally over once I had basically replaced all of the suspension, a common story with these!

Ouch!

I hope it solves your problem.

Whilst you're under there, check the pinion shaft for play as I think that can cause bad vibes if the pinion bearings are shot.
