Just placed the order today. Saw the 1st pictures of it last year and was impressed but was less impressed when i saw the reviews. Had a short test drive today and loved it. Looks the business, sounds the business. The sort of city car that can be quiet and refined when you need it to be but you can have a bit of fun in as well.

It fits my commute of 5 miles city driving and 5 miles motorway perfectly and would be genuine fun on a twisty little road without risking my license.

Very impressed with the standard kit, DAB radio and heated seats.

I'm only just back in from ordering it but I've already got a text confirming that the finance (hire purchase before you ask) is sorted and a short personalised video thanking me for ordering the car.

I was told a wait time of 12-14 weeks, not sure how I'm meant to wait that long.

Spec: 999cc turbo 3 cylinder 5 door in Tornado red and the "Cruise and Park" pack added.

Very excited, this is the 1st brand new car I've ordered and look forward to sharing the journey to delivery as well as the journeys after delivery.

Will follow with interest; a car that's right up my street.

I'd be itching to get behind the wheel too!

Had an UP! with 59 bhp as a courtesy car for the day. Was such hoot to drive and put a smile on my face, I didn't want to give it back. Can't imagine how much of a riot the GTI will be with 114 bhp. Will be watching this thread for updates regularly.

I've been obsessing over these for a while tbh! Think they're ace.

I've also been eagerly awaiting their arrival too!

Not managed to get down for a look/drive of one yet though, so can I ask; on it's lowest setting does the drivers seat sit nice and low? I'm hoping that it's similar to the way the old Lupo GTI used to swallow larger humans up front without putting most of their body on display in the window! laugh

I've been worried that even on the lowest setting you'll sit too high in the Up! GTI (as per most new cars) because I'm not a small bloke and I don't want to look like Donkey Kong shoehorn'd into a comically small city car... something I never felt when I drove a Lupo GTi many, many years ago.

It's the same seat as the standard Up, so have a look at one of those. It's not sportscar low but it's fairly adjustable.

I'm 6ft and I didn't feel like Donkey Kong at any point.

When I got out, I was able to fit in the rear seat behind myself so 4 6fters would fit, albeit snugly.

I'll not go into specifics but the PCP was the same as the finance calculation on the VW website if you want to look there.

Wasn't able to get a discount with the number of orders in already.

Find that hard to believe. I got 9.5% off list, including the £500 dealer contribution.

yes, >1k off available through drivethedeal so at least some dealers are discounting. A poverty spec one through them is 12100 which seems like mega value!

Saw these. Thought they looked awesome. Then decided the seats looked st which totally put me off. Went to look at one today, 5 door in red, looked cool as chuff and now want one.

Would still change the seats though....

Genuine question (based on a family member's comments) - are Seat & Skoda doing an equivalent, and how much cheaper are they?

The Seat Mii and Skoda Citygo are based on the same platform but there’s been no hot version announced for them.

Good choice, OP.... Just been pricing one of these up as my wife and I are about to swap cars, since the eldest is about to start driving, and my current Fiesta ST is a bit too "twitchy" for a newbie.

Will watch with interest!

I work for a VW retailer and have to say they are a great car! They are selling well. It it is worth mentioning that we are being told of extended lead times.... it might be worth getting your dealer to update eta on yours.

Can you confirm the rumours that the factory are changing all dealer orders to customer sold orders?

No. Was talking to dealer today who didn't go into specifics but confirmed that demand was way higher than supply.

I got my order number, so I can track it. Currently at Stage 2 of 7:

Your order is with the factory and is currently being scheduled for production.

Yeah, same as mine. Lots of talk about 40+ week lead times. Not such an issue for me, but I can understand why some would be mighty annoyed.
