The really irritating thing is that there is very little logic to the way VW are handling orders. There is a huge amount of unrest amongst the members on the Up Owners Club forum because many people who ordered on the 6th February were given 12 week lead times. Some are being fulfilled, but it seems like the large majority aren’t even coming close. To add salt in to the wound people are popping up who ordered cars as late as the 11th March who have cars built and in transit to the UK already! That’s a bitter pill to swallow when you got in early and all you’re seeing is your order go backwards.

I contacted my dealer again today for a fortnightly update but haven’t had anything back yet. I’ve said repeatedly that I don’t mind when it comes, but I am beginning to feel my patience wane a little.

So my update is that it’s gone back a further week. If I’m lucky enough for that not to go back any further then I’ll be looking at 30+ weeks from order to delivery. Frankly ridiculous.

Yeah that's not good.

You could forgive this on something like a 911 GT3 or something but I'm considering other options.

Could this be the 1st Readers Car thread to not involve a car?

Anything that takes your fancy? Are you confident you'd get your deposit back?

Could be worse you could have been the first to order a Tesla model 3. biggrin

Keep the thread updated anyway op, even if you get something else.

Will do.

Fairly confident that "You told me 12-14 weeks when I ordered" will get my deposit back.

The problem is, there's nothing new that I'd rather have.

I'll probably end up sticking it out, my current car's doing the job OK.

Has your provisional build week been effected by the WLTP factory closure 99dndd? Mine has gone back 5 weeks! Not happy at all.

Specifically talks about the Wolfsburg factory, but this must be what is going on in Bratislava too – https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-44383226

Was told yesterday that my build week has come forward a whole month. Might be worth checking with your dealer to see if yours has changed too smile

One thing for you guys to keep in mind.
With the next Emissions standard coming in 1st September.
Perhaps check the car is not going to get bumped into a higher tax\first payment group.

First payment is covered by the dealer no?

No mate, the first year tax could get loaded if the emissions are higher with the new testing.

I cant find any data for the vw group stuff though.
Might be worth a question to the dealer you have ordered the car with.

My order form includes Road Fund Licence, but this is based at 110g/km. The up! GTI was one of the first cars tested under WLTP, but I believe the CO2 figure was around 127-129g/km which would bump it up a few grades.

They’re one band apart, and the difference is a massive £20, so wouldn’t worry too much about it.
