Next job done:

At £170+ each for Scorpion Verdes it seemed much more sensible to buy a delivery mileage set of wheels & tyres off an L405 for 20% less than that allowing me to stick them on the car and get the supercharged wheels refurbed before doing a tyre swap around and selling them on, keeping the Supercharged wheels & Scorpions. Hopefully this will get me a half price set of tyres for a little bit of effort smile

I could of course just fit these but I don't think they are a patch on the supercharged multispoke wheels!

Defo go back to the SC wheels! You could keep the L405 wheels and shod them with winters. Range would be unstoppable on winter rubber. biggrin

No major issues as yet. Hooning it for extended periods results in a "reduced performance" message on the dash but the charge cooler pump is wired backwards so that's in the common issues camp rather than the potentially expensive camp wink I've got a new charge cooler pump on the way and will rewire the connector as per the TSB, I'm also going to give it a big service as it's not clear when it last had plugs and if I'm going to go even smaller on the charger pulley it would make sense to have those as known good.

3-4 Shift solenoid thing appears to have gone away since a swap to four tyres of the same size. I'm keeping an eye on that as I suspect it will still require a mechatronics rebuild at some point.

Wheels are being refurbed at the moment so looking forward to getting it back on the supercharged wheels as the 5 spokes don't really suit it.

Finally after some searching it appears this: https://www.caraudioexpress.co.uk/manufacturers/mo... is the best option to enable bluetooth streaming, better bluetooth phone support etc. on this era of Range so I've got one on the way to see.

All in all this is turning out to be a decent buy!

Bit of impromptu green laning today due to a broken down lorry. Living out in the sticks does have some advantages when you can take to the fields to avoid single track road closures laugh

Those Scorpions are really good!

Gave it a big service yesterday afternoon because whilst it had one recently plugs weren't on that and they were due. Bit of stuff to take off but not too bad:

Fairly grubby under there though:

Also this is what came out plug wise..... someone couldn't be arse to do these last time round laugh

Belts, filters, new charge cooler pump (and the wiring modded as per the TSB as JLR had it the wrong way around from new rolleyes ), new MAF, also under trays secured properly and given it has mint rear arches and door inners I've also liberally chucked some cavity wax about the place to try and make sure it stays that way.

Oh and the bay had a clean up whilst I was in there:

Rather looking the part now!

They look ok (for used plugs) to me

I recently removed some and the electrode was clearly eroded - annoyingly it drove no better with new plugs

The gaps on these are considerably up on what a new one, or even end of life one should be. It's amazing how well stuff will run with huge plug gaps though isn't it - modern ignition systems hide a multitude of sins wink

Always enjoy following your threads/cars Matt. I spy some swisstrax flooring - what do you think of it? And what I really want to know - what's it like wheel stuff about on?

Not got a lot to say on the Rangey, but you have made me keep looking at them on the classifieds!

It's good, this is all ex pit garage stuff we now use in the workshop. No issues wheel stuff around on it assuming it's got sensible size wheels on it! smile

Still going strong with nothing done to it since the last service aside from fuel and 250ml of oil.

MPG down to 13.3 as the supercharger whine is always pleasing to hear biggrin

It's due brakes in the near future but aside from this is in rude health and continues to be a great partner to the Porsche. I'm putting this in the good buy box smile

Cracking thread and the RR bug has certainly bitten, I hope the new one continues to give stellar service.

There’s just something about these L322s I really really want one.

My boss has an 02 TD6 that’s in far worse condition than your first one, in the same colour, that he has owned since 2003 but has recently developed a fault from the rear that I suspect is diff related. Might be worth a buy.

Well the SC Rangey has given stellar service over the past few months and aside from using ALL the fuel has been pretty cheap to run! I really can't fault it and the fact you can buy a decent one for less than £8K is amazing value really. It has used naff all oil during the last 10K miles and all the electrics as still working the same as when I purchased it.

However the gearbox is now showing its age with 3/4 solenoid playing up creating a "Transmission Fail" fault. Having spoken to a local specialist this is pretty common and a rebuilt mechatronics unit will solve it.

Downside is this fix is about 2 weeks downtime it seems...... so in true PH sensible fashion I've found a solution to that downtime in this:

A Levante S Gransport. It's a smidge quicker than the Range Rover, does around 5MPG more on a run and makes a great noise so a sensible choice all round I think.

The question now is do I keep the Range once it's fixed or sell it. It's probably the only one left that doesn't have rusty rear arches or a bubbly tail gate and it has had new brakes all round fairly recently to boot.... plus the van like boot is a total win occasionally and the aircon is the best in any car I've ever owned! Having said that including the none road cars I'm currently at 19.9L of cars which is excessive whichever way you look at it laugh

Not seen many of those Masers on the road. Can't imagine there'd be much daylight in total ownership costs between it and the RR though?

15.9L here, must try harder......

Had mine just over a year and I've done 5.5K miles. Its cost me £3K in repairs unfortunately over this time. The cost of the car was £3.5K and its done 115K miles. It looks lovely when its clean. I have a 2018 range rover as well now. I was going to sell it but think I will keep it.

I've been looking at L322's and saw yours on Autotrader, what was the 'big bill'? I ask as i'm an idiot with a socket set so a touch more mechanically fearless than most.

It was a new front subframe, rear trailing arms, new servo and front nearside air suspension. Decided to keep it after a complete time waster came to view it.

I can understand that, I've been looking for a while, I've viewed a few ropey ones with pushy sellers trying to hide issues. I missed out on one before Christmas as I don't like to waste folks time if I can't make it down from Scotland to see a car.

Are the subframes easy enough to get hold of? I tend to do a lot of preventative work on my cars (I'm just finishing up new but much improved coated subframes on my Cooper S).
