1976, 1 of 400 stradale homologation specials built to enable the 131 Abarth to compete in the WRC. The 131 Abarth won the WRC manufacturers title three times in 1977, '78 & '80 and won the drivers championship with Markku Alen in '78 and Walter Rohrl in '80.

The car is not 100% standard, it has cams, LSD, stiffer springs, rally handbrake, recaro seats, larger carbs and produces about 180 bhp and weighs c. 850 kg. Let's just say it goes pretty well!!

A lot of the bodywork is fibreglass. The bonnet, wings, boot lid and spoiler for example.

Here's a great video of what one is like to drive, they sound utterly incredible for such a small engine.

It isn’t often I comment on here, but this can’t go without one. That is a sublime motorcar you have there. One of my all-time favourites. My late aunt had a 131 Mirafiori Supersport in that colour when they were new, and I always adored it.

Congratulations on your acquisition. Enjoy it.

Corrected that for you wink

That is a seriously awesome car, I am so jealous. Even as a committed Escort RS fan-boy this yanks my crank harder, I've loved them since seeing them in action Back In The Day.

More pictures are essential!

Fantastic, one of my all time favourite cars would love to drive one (briefly drove a 131 sport many years ago with some Abarth bits on it).

This car was Fiat's answer to the RS1800 (the BDA engined Escort). I'd love either but I'd chose the 131 given the choice.
