Hi, thanks for the reply! I found a couple of groups on facebook, but the M5 one seems to be American and just seems to have pictures of peoples' cars but no real information. I found an E60/61 one which was better, but not sure if it's the same one you mention.

Good idea about the thread, I'll hopefully start one tomorrow.

Yeah tv works on front screen. Where would I find a VIN decoder? Sounds interesting.
Hi Dave,

I'll send you a PM re the FB page.

Good, I'll keep an eye out for it!

Interesting, I wonder if it has been coded in, or if your car has the later CIC retrofitted?

WRT VIN Decoder, go to https://www.bmwvin.com/ . You just need to enter the last 7 digits of your VIN.

ETA: I cannot email you as you do not accept emails lol.

Excellent, thanks.

I'm new here, and apparently you can't send or receive emails for the first 24 hours, so I'll be patient.

Cheers! Yes it is a shame, which is one of the reasons why I bought it. I'll move to twin turbo's at some point as never owned anything with 2 turbo's before, only 1.

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised. It still drains the tank quick enough and still cost me a lot of money in petrol but you have to pay to play. I am sure a remap will help, always did on my previous turbo charged cars. Are you going to take it to RS?
No not going to RS despite all the hype. Over 200 miles / 3.5 hrs from me. I'm taking it to ray west (west tuning) at thruxton as I know some of his work and he is very highly regarded in the racing community. Also local to me so that's a bonus.

should be good as he looks after a couple of veyrons amongst other interesting metal. I'm hoping it's a case of getting what you pay for as I'm paying about £570 for bespoke dyno map (4-5 hrs). Did consider ktec as they have worked on the car previously but I heard some bad feedback about their maps from quite a few people.

Hope you enjoy the M5, I'm only a little bit jealous wink

Why would a remap take 4 to 5 hours ?

Bespoke or otherwise ?

I have heard of Ray West but not used them personally. Hopefully he does the job for you thumbup

Cheers, I hope I have it for some time to come. I was going to go for an F10 in a year or so, but not so sure at the moment, the V10 is addictive if not as fast.

From my basic understanding and from what he's said to me, he takes the information out if the car and adjusts/tweeks it instead of bunging a generic map in and then adjusting it.

He does this as he says that he has had a lot of compatability problems in the past. I guess this is a time consuming process.

He also said that he meticuless (probably spelt wrong) about testing at each alteration. He is also very perticular about getting the car set up perfectly at the standard power and then adding where he can.

From the cars and owners that have used him it seems to pay off, well I hope so at least.

I have no doubt that paul at RS is good at what he does but for me this is the best option.

Anyway I don't want to take over someone's thread, so let's not. smile

Sounds like you'll be getting a thorough job done.

Do you have a reader's rides thread?

I don't as to be honest it's not that interesting in comparison to alot of cars on this site.

It's a 2007 megane r26. Roughly number 1500 of about 3000 made. Theres about 900 left on the road from my brief research. Mine is blue which is the rarest colour. It is probably safe to say there is less than 100 of mine left, 230 bhp from factory and a map with my exhaust and induction kit should give between 270 and 290 with similar torque figures. Currently doing its best to financially cripple me. Worst bit is the insurance because I'm 21, currently paying £1750 fully comp. As you say got to pay to play.

You'd be surprised. I like the r26 and in blue they look good. I considered one for a bit of turbo fun when I was deliberating over different cars. My wife has a twingo rs133 which is fun to chuck around if not comfy to drive due to cup suspension and seating position.

It will go well with that power as they aren't exactly heavy.

Ouch on the insurance. When I was your age I paid the most I've ever spent on car insurance which was around £1500 for a 270bhp Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth. I miss that car massively.

Thanks Lee! It really is great having that V10. I am still desperate to drive it all of the time lol. I think you'd have preferred it to your old M3 tbh, the lack of torque doesn't seem to feel too bad in this, and I came from an E55 with over 600 lbft!

Ah yes, the old XR4x4 filters - I had a late one with lambda sensors and no MAF's and couldn't easily find a kit for it, so I bought a kit designed for a car with MAF's and my dad made me up a pair of adapters for them (he was a CNC machinist at the time). Happy days biggrin

I agree and I think I would love it and I would love a go in one. I parked next to one the other week and you just don't see them very often out in the wild.

Nice having a Dad as handy as that for sure. smile

They do seem a little thin on the ground but iirc they were sold in good numbers, but given their ability to quite literally eat your wallet, house, wife and kids in repair bills, I suspect a lot of them end up parted out / scrapped etc.

If you ever find yourself down Aylesbury way and I'm not busy, let me know and you can have a go in it.

Yeah it was handy, he used to be able to do all sorts. Sadly no longer with us but I appreciate the help he always gave.

You're certainly a brave man that's for sure! biggrin Thanks very much for the kind offer of a drive if I'm ever around your way. smile Sorry to hear that your Dad is no longer with us.

Apparently fortune favours the brave hehe I needed to own a V10, didn't want an Audi that had similar borkability biggrin. No worries smile. Cheers, it is what it is sadly.

New tyres fitted on Saturday to the rear. Goodyear Asymmetric 2's in 285 35 19 flavour. Seems quite hard to get tyres in this size. Going bigger can cause issues with the DSC I am led to believe otherwise I would have gone 295's, though on the standard allow that is pushing it anyway I believe.

Excuse the poor photo, I took this as I was setting off for work this morning.

Dropped the car off at the specialist to get the rod bearings done a few hours ago. Pick it back up on Sunday with uprated bearings, ARP bolts, vanos line and being safe in the knowledge that all will be well with the world!
