Hyundai I30 N Performance
Discussion
After owning my Mk7 Fiesta ST for 3 years from new from 2015and with the arrival of our daughter in March last year, I've been getting itchy fingers and wanting to change.
After copious amounts of reading and watching, test driving various models for past 3 months I settled on the I30. I was basically sold after the test drive. It's just an amazing drivers car, 5 doors and big boot! Stick it in normal mode and Yeh it's a little loud but drives just like any other hatchback. Press the N button and all hell breaks loose and it's a totally different car.
I picked it up Sunday and enjoyed a 80 mile drive back home. It's making me smile like a big kid!!!
Anyway enough rambling and here's the only 2 pictures I have from my phone so far.

Nice! I'll be following. I'm really keen on these cars. I was offered a test drive although I made the salesman aware I wasn't looking to buy, and he just said he hoped it'd help me keep future models in mind. Unfortunately I had sent my driving licence off just before and hadn't received it back

I was unsure it would be as good as what I had read since before it was released in January and what I'd read since but I can say that once I'd driven it there was no other option that came close. If you get chance to drive it, do so and push the N button. You will smile like a kid in a sweet shop! I chose white as 95% have been released in the performance blue so thought I'd be a bit different.

I got to take one of these round Anglesey a few weeks back courtesy of the PH comp, truly awesome hot hatch. It may not be the overall fastest but the every element of the package compliments the other elements perfectly. If I could afford one now a blue one would be on my drive as we speak.
I drove one a few weeks back in North Wales for the PH thing, epic car.
I personally just bought an M135i but to be honest, all things considered, the I30N is more fun, cant say it felt all that much slower either, definitely more focussed with an LSD as well.
It was all things a Hot Hatch should be and felt properly naughty in N mode, and easy to live with when not in N mode, just felt more or less like a normal I30 then.
The interior was a bit meh but it did the job, glad people are buying them as they deserve to do well for bringing what is a really credible car to market, the Golf GTI is a fantastic car but a bit predictable, these are a lot more aggressive I think, in N mode its like driving a Tasmanian Devil, one of those cars that, after a blast you feel like patting when you get out, the exhaust noises are just rude but dont sound quite as contrived as A45 or similar.
When I first read that Hyundai were doing a Hot Hatch, thoughts went back to things like the Montego "GTI" (I had one) and the Nissan Cherry GTI, i.e. I thought company without a clue wanting a piece of the Hot Hatch Pie, I fully expected it to be an overly powerful engine shoved in an I30, dampers stiffened, suspension lowered, some big alloys, red bits, be-winged seats etc, ending up as a not original artists Hot Hatch, Hi Tec trainers compared to the usual Nike, Adidas or Reebok, i.e. "really Jazzy" but your mates would laugh, but no, they nailed it, first time, its the real deal.
I would have probably bought one but so few around and still very new, also I caved and got an auto but I really loved the I30N.
Enjoy, I expect you are !

Congratulations op! Awesome car.
The other half is in the market for a new car & liked the i30n. I quickly ferried her to a dealership this weekend before she lost interest & started looking at golfs again & she really loved the car, surprising as she usually hates anything with a spoiler/ bling etc.
It was going so well... test drives were even discussed & then she saw the interior cup holders didn't have a cover like the standard i30. That was it. It was off the shortlist. Ffs

Nice! Looks good in the white.
Just ordered one of these today myself. Dealer said they could hopefully get their hands on a Blue one quickly, if they can't I'm having Micron Grey on a factory order. I've specced the winter pack with the heated seats and steering wheel too.
The test drive was something else. If someone told me a few years back I'd be happily buying a new Hyundai, I would have laughed, but it has this character that gives driving it a sense of occasion. The way it drives, and that noise! I couldn't stop grinning.
Hope you enjoy yours. I certainly can't wait to get mine!

Thanks for all the comments.
JACKO has probably nailed the description for the car perfectly!
I have the winter pack which is the only option available that gives you heated seats and steering wheel.
If I didn't have white it would have been factory order and 4 month waiting list. When I picked it up Sunday the dealer showed me the stock they had available of the I30 N for the UK and it was 0!!! Not a single car left unless can get hold of pre registered.
I was sceptical of how good it could have been after reading what people were saying but just drive one if you get the chance. Hyundai have done an amazing job for their first attempt at a hot hatch.

Bit random but what is the audio system like?
Decent enough for me. I don't really have much else to say. It sounds decent enough and gets the stations I require on DAB. Media playback through phone or USB but not used that yet.The Sat-Nav is excellent. Very user friendly although I have yet to use Android Auto through my phone to the display to see how that compares. Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
