I can now see where that rear wing fits in with those recent racing photos.

I 'get' the project now !

When you are finished it will definitely be 'your car' as there will not be many others like it.

Hats off to you as there will be so much work !

Looking forward to the progress !
Absolutely, makes a lot more sense now.

I love sleepers, but I love race cars too...

A quick sketch for an idea I’m going to be preparing parts for powder coating tomorrow so that will be something nice and fresh coming soon!
Not sure why the images rotate as they don’t display like that on my phone...

I would get that engine tested over the front sub frame before getting it powder coated unless you are off dry sump.

Am sure you ll have seen this but they have to cut quite a bit - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3jZBk8W-kM

Or a Kmiata sump set up would be nice https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1109/4350/produc...

Thanks yeah I’ve looked at both options. I will make the oil sump work either way as I don’t want to modify the rare front subframe ideally. I like the kMiata option if it will fit!

Beauty, absolutely!

The K20 is probably about the best 4 pot engine and most tunable you could use really wink

Are you going fork KPro or AEM tuning (or similar)? If I missed that bit, sorry

Thanks!

The plan is K Pro v4 with jenvey 45mm ITBs, JDM cams and a decent exhaust setup. If I’m correct with calcs on the runner length etc it should peak power nicely at 9k

Sounds about right smile

I had a similar set up in an EG6 SiR-S years back; but used OBX TBs at that time; good, but not the best and couldn't afford Toda ones. I was running the JDM cams also, but a Spoon ECU which again, was only ok

The car got written off about 3 weeks later whilst I was elsewhere; a lorry reversed into it and pancaked the front end! 44t vs a small EG6 is never going to end well!

That’s a real shame sorry to hear that!

Any idea what power it made with that setup? I did look at Toda too but I like Jenvey and they came up so it was perfect

IIRC about 250; but it wasn't mapped very well. The Spoon ECU was bit of a mare, so really don't know how genuine the BHP was

Im was talking to the guys at CPL re Hondata then to get that moving; but it was flattened before I got moving properly. Just the way it goes at times...

TODA are about as good as they get IMO; but you pay for them through the nose too!

My fear with TODA was support and spares where jenvey are U.K. based and have many years of development in ITB and Carb setups so it seemed to make sense!

K20 is a sensible 4 pot choice...

In my experience the F20C (listed as 237hp? for the S2K) rarely makes that power as standard. Closer to 220 (allowing for dyno lottery of course!)

Used to drive these delivering them as demonstrators for Honda & great fun but didn’t feel like ~240hp if I’m honest..

Heathen!

Should have carried out a full and sympathetic restoration using certified BMW heritage screenwash and new old stock crossplies.

Preserving a slow, dated, uncomfortable saloon and sitting on deckchairs in fields whilst wearing a scowl would be infinitely more enjoyable than turning it into a nutter-bd rev monster that goes, stops, steers, spits flames, and makes you grin like an idiot whilst winging it round a circuit on its door handles.

I see no sense in your decision whatsoever.

...but I've bookmarked this thread anyway and will continue to not enjoy it even one little bit.

Thanks! The beauty of this is it should be around 300-350kg lighter than the s2000 and geared nicely. Obviously the driving dynamic will be completely different but 240hp in this should be pretty nuts

The interior is long gone to make room for the cage however the dash will go back in retrimmed in alcantara. Maybe lightweight carpet and of course bucket seats!

I found a picture of the original car this week I hadn’t seen before! Feeling inspired to make some progress next week!

Oh and I managed to source a door after realising they were NLA I began the search and the best price I could find for a nos item was looking around £1000 delivered.. so I decided to pick one up that needed a small repair from Norway.
