Pete, im glad I’ve come across this thread as I’ve managed to take quite a lot from it.

I consider myself very fortunate at 28 with an almost paid off house, f355 I owe nothing on, of which the kids adore however the same can’t be said of the Mrs.

However I can’t quite comprehend the wealth of your car and property collection, really is something.

Ive probaly passed you at some time or another passing through alderly!

Stuff about travel/Europe
Cheers for the lengthy reply, quite interesting as I've noticed a different vibe in European cities nowadays compared to the mid-90's too. Wouldn't go as far as to say anywhere is a no-go area but there is definitely more of an atmosphere that puts you on edge in certain places than there was before.

The only place I was genuinely worried recently was taking a wrong turn in the Old Quarter of Barcelona a couple of years back. Ended up in a dark, narrow road with a few groups of guys loitering around. Was with my wife and got a few cat-calls which we ignored then they started to follow us. That wasn't good but fortunately we spotted the Ramblas down the next turning and legged it the 100m back into the lights and and dived straight into the nearest bar. Got a taxi to come to the door to take us back to the hotel!!

Perhaps I don't notice dodgy atmospheres as much as some others do because of my time at university. Had no money back then and my folks were a normal family who kept their heads above water but didn't have much cash to spare. I was at Newcastle, and after the first year in halls I found a couple of like-minded friends and we rented a house in Benwell.

This was 1997; three-bedroom place - rent was £12/week each including bills. The place was like a bloody war-zone, every other house on the street boarded up, stolen cars burning in the street at night but we had a great time in the end. When we got to chatting with the locals, (who were to be fair mostly wrong'uns but with good hearts), it turned out that we lived in quite a safe area as they'd all go and rob the richer neighbourhoods as you don't scensoredt on your own doorstep!! hehe

Getting a part-time job in a pub on the Scotswood Road was an eye-opener too!! It was like the fuccensoredng wild west!!

Anyway, all that crap aside, I saw an original D-type Jag on the road yesterday, what a stunning, curvy, beautiful thing.

You got any love for those or not something that floats your boat??

Pete, the suns out, which I guess means you'll be getting something more exotic out - get some pics up of you in your joggers (or shorts) draped over your supercar of choice!

I used to like driving through France, now I wouldn’t go to that country even if you paid me. It’s like a war torn country itself.
I used to spend a lot of time in Germany, wouldn’t touch it now.

I’ve stopped going to Geneva for the motorshow now because it’s such a sthole. Italy was my number one destination in Europe growing up, I’ve travelled pretty much every part of it. Naples has always been rough but that’s because it’s a port town though. The only time I go Italy now is to race at Fiorano.

Sweden is terrifying now. Same with the crime in all the eastern countries in Europe.
fk me, that's properly jaded man, even for PH.

Quite a depressing post actually. Can't be accurate, surely? Certainly doesn't reflect my experiences, with the exception of eastern Europe, as I have no experience of that.

Edit: ...and that's saying something coz *I'm* jaded AF! hehe

As someone who lives in Sweden for 2 weeks out of each month, I can say it has deteriorated over the last few years but with the exception of a few places in the inner cities, it isn't like the Wild West! Their way of life does seem to be getting diluted, however.

On a weekend like this you must have the mother of all jobs trying to pick which cars you get out! Enjoy the sunshine in some of them whatever you do!

I’m anything but jaded, someone asked me about travelling and I gave my honest answer about why I don’t really travel much around Europe. These are based on real life, I’ve just not had many good times in Europe recently. Hopefully things will change back in the years to come.

Got it, thank you. Hopefully we can get that Zonda sorted.
If you can line it up then I’m good to pull the trigger, if the price is right.
Cheers
Pete

Sold before they could get back to me. I was offered one recently by DK Engineering but it was bad timing as we were buying a new house. That’s now fallen through as the sellers accepted an above price offer so I’m actively looking for a 275 again. Gonna get back in contact with James from DK (very nice bloke if anyone’s in the market for a classic Ferrari) to see what he’s got on offer.

Edit: this was a message off James from Tom Hartley not James from DK Engineering, just needed to clarify haha.

This weekend I’ve mostly been enjoying my F12TDF. That’s a hell of a car.

Completely off-topic, but I always feel Joe Macari's website is nowhere near befitting of the cars that they are retailing - like something a Yr10 school ICT project team would come up.

Granted I’m not a web designer but what’s wrong with it? A detailed description and plenty of photos is what I see. I’ve seen worse.

You can tell it was designed by a none millennial as it has T: E: prefixes in front of the contact details ... the old people include them as they still used to faxes :-)! Will forgive them as what an amazing car selection. The carbon Enzo is stunning
