I LOVE THESE KIND OF PROJECTS and the build threads that go with them. Even though the pre war body style of the car doesn't really float my boat I can appreciate all the work that goes into creating something like this - Hats off to you, you've made something very special & highly unusual!!!

It's clearly been one hell of a journey to get to the stage you are at now so it must have felt extremely good to drive to Blenhiem and back with only extra fuel stops needed!!!!.

Thank you smile...

To be honest Kerrly , it was a bit surreal ...like waiting for christmas , and then it happens 6 month early , i was driving along pretty much "out of body" ,98 % of my brain saying hold on it has not been tested properly ,what are you DOING.. while the slightly dominant 2 % was saying STUFF IT ...BE BRAVE ...LETS JUST GO .

what really helps is using my imagination to convince myself i was just being paid to test drive it ,and i had not really built it all myself , cast away the last 5 years , and be in the moment ,,,,but of a compulsory sharp zen learning curve ... whether you like it or not.. .

it made a huge difference having v there in her tvr ready to tow me home if needed.

robert.

Loving this, thank you!

(I've tried to make contact on Rods n sods, but cannot get it to work, apologies)

I do like the sweeping curves of the new exhaust, and I agree on your option of slightly less compression.

Quick question on the distributor, is it not one tooth out when installing the long arm of it onto the crankshaft?

Looking at your very different advances needed running lpg to petrol, would a Halltec or other computer controlled ignition not be easier, or would this blow your brilliant budget way out of the water?

Good idea on the temperature of the exhausts to get each cylinder running the correct mixture! - looking forward to seeing how you can adjust that per cylinder!

Congrats on the 5 day video episode, I think your hat was ace, and what I would insist on walking around wearing for a day! Please do more, and yes, each video must start with your catchphrase!

ooof , THANK YOU Peanut !...smilesmile

yes any ecu age would definitely dematerialise my infinitesimal budget , with lpg on mixers and distributors ,i can get it to work , it just takes time .

re the rotor arm , if the timing is right , and the arm is in the wrong place , not a lot you can do other than re position the cap , luckily this cap was not registered to the base so could swivel .

my theory ,is that the rotor normally moves anti clock , and so , when running clockwise , the 4 pin module triggers on the part of the pickup waveform that is now in the wrong place ...,and so the spark occurs later than is should . time will tell.

here's the latest travesty of filming excellence ...

.....managed to get that blasted head skimming video copied at SUPER LOW RESOLUTION (SLR) due to my pupu refusing to save movie at anything above 1 pixel per ft .

its like a 70's holiday film.

Next outing ,the Bicester scramble .

since i had a 11 gallon tank , and last time was doing 3.7 to the gallon , and had to do 50 miles , this was an adventure .

Excellent lunch time viewing ! Car looks amazing as usual. I'd love to see a birdseye view of the car just after you parked in the hanger to see the crowd descending on you laugh

THANK YOU Graham ,and Winston .. it was a bizarre situation ,and made me want to take it all apart and do it all super clean and painted and spanky , then i thought hey, no, its supposed to look like a 1920 aero engined track warrior , ill just wire wool it now and again .

my favourite quote of the day ,was a mr know it all chap wandering over with his disciples , saying " oh yes ,it's a Daimler with an aero engine, probably a Liberty " i think he said liberty , anyrdup it was a fine moment lol.

Don't make it too shiny ! A nice oily sheen, with the occasional buff with a bit of wire wool or Solvol would be perfect.

Sorry for the random comment here, but cannot for the life of me get your other forum to work for me.

The scenario for others, if unaware of the initial question, is as such.

last time it was on the dyno it had 170 hp at 3200 ,and 306 lbs/ft at 2500.

The car is still uneven temps across the cylinders, and the clutch is slipping.

What is it pulling now?

I will go for . . 210 hp at 3000, and 325 lbs/ft at 2250.

What do I win?

Time to get a bit data loggy wiv it .

Popped Medusa on the dyno on tuesday . I knew the clutch was slipping on full power , so i used a short run time of 8 seconds to try to race the car up the rev range before the clutch woke up and realised what i was doing, and slipping out of sheer spite .

first run was with a simulated load of 2000 lbs ..

BHP

TRQ

here is this run is compared with last dyno sesh, before i did the seals and raised the cr ..

TRQ..

BHP..

And this is how the two engines compared air fuel ratio wise ...

with the flow valve closed on E2 , it is still way too rich , and lean lower down because i have to use the lpg flow sensitivity screw to offset the top end richness .

i did a few more runs ,but mr clutch had cottoned onto what i was doing and got a bit moody ,,,here are the runs with it letting go in different creative ways ..

and got to a combined max of 258 bhp @4183 rpm , and 369 lbs/ft @2991 rpm .

i still could not get the mix on Engine No 2 leaner , so i did an alternative move ..

I only went and pulled out all 12 25mm venturi's, left the fueling as it was, and had another run...

THIS WAS A BIT OF AN EYE OPENER ....

BHP

trq..

The straight 12 revved happily round to 6000 rpm LORDLUVVADUCK.

BHP max was 329.4 @ 5225 rpm

TRQ max was 361.7 @ 3141 rpm

clutch was still slipping a bit 350lbs/ft sems to be about its limit .

air fuel mixtures ,compared with the venturi runs were logging thusly..

3.6 litre ..

4.0 litre ..

note the extreme lean areas , putting this run on top of the venturi run shows the loss of trq due to leaness..

another interesting thing ,,,if anyone is still awake lol...

my exhaust gas temperature logging with the venturis in gave me this ..

and without venturis this ..

Still the same of spread of horrible unevenness , so i did a run with the venturi in no5 only , thinking, if no5 was lean ,would pep it up no end ...

here is that run compared with the run before ..

yup .. its worse ! so is no 5 actually too rich ?

next i added 4 degrees timing ...

this may have been a bit much ,,,early in the run , the revs wizzed round the clock ,and a cloud of grey smoke appeared from under the car,the clutch had thrown its toys out of the pram and gone totally hitler with me ..the power graph looked like this ..

and that was that .

next thing is to change the clutch , and fit flow valves to all cylinders to get on top of the fueling .

robert.

I certainly have, thank you! (I'm also a subscriber to your chanel, stalker alert! )

I do enjoy the graphs and reasons for them, just need to work on my brain to understand them more! Are you going to try fit pressure or flow valves to each line going to each cylinder?

I'm sure the new clutch will be balanced enough, you have not added tons of weight to one side. Good luck!
