P38 Range Rover, errrr...daily.
Discussion
I hope everyone has had a good weekend. Especially those with their P38s.
I’ve been quite ill, so not much done. I did take the family out for a little drive, as Mrs MJ85 hasn’t been in it since the work was completed (so desperate to feel the difference... ).
I don’t have many pictures of the actual car, so a couple of it feeling at home.

I've sorted the offside door noise.I changed the check strap and the pin with new items. It didn't cure it! However, compressing the mounting point on the door did... oh well. Just the other side to sort, in time.
I finally, after purchasing 4!!! wing mirrors, have got an offside mirror assembly that works. The shell is swapped over to the Epsom Green one the car came with.
A replacement diff is on its way, which should bring some good improvements.

Look I'm not making a personal dig to your relative. But anyone who specialises in a marque and then claims you should stay away is not exactly being helpful are they. One would have to ask why they bother specilaising in something they won't recommend.
You what? Do do know we’re talking about the p38? Infamous for being, well, a bit st?Maybe he has seen just how bad they can be and would recommend you not spending your hard earned money on one, you know, like a good human being would. He adores land rovers but isn’t blinded to their flaws, and doesn’t mince his words.
But if you do decide you just have to have a p38, then he knows them inside out.

p.s. no need to get abusive with your reply, it's only my opinion and that of the whole internet.
I love these Range Rovers. This thread prompted me to take a gander around Autotrader.
I came across this ad...

I thought the description was a classic example of a Freudian Slip!

I like this thread.
Six months ago I parted with £900 for this 4.0 with LPG (sight unseen from Ebay) and had it shipped to me from Manchester to Wiltshire (another £300).
MOT was last week and I was expecting bad news at the price I paid for it. I assumed the chassis was now made of cheese, but I was pleasantly surprised that it only failed on an indicator bulb and a UJ on the rear propshaft so I treated it to some window tints, a new set of wheels and tyres, and an optima yellow top battery for the winter.
I'll be running it as a daily for the winter and my Jag can stay tucked away in the warm.

That looks classy! It would look even classier without those silly side vents, are they just stuck on or did someone actually cut holes in it?
They're stuck on. I pulled one off, and the paint behind had been polished through to the primer...so I stuck it back on again for now OP, has it got heated seats? How are they working? And the heated windscreen?
I had a 97 4.6 with half a windscreen that worked, and heated seats that stopped working on the cushion. Never did get around to fixing them.
Did change the air suspension bags myself though. And fixed the vacuum cruise control. They do seem to be fixable with a good Swiss army knife and an adjustable spanner!

Heated seats are there but don't work. There's a guy in Lincs that does them, but it is a little way down the list.I had a 97 4.6 with half a windscreen that worked, and heated seats that stopped working on the cushion. Never did get around to fixing them.

Heated screen works for about 85% of the lines, so enough to still be very useful.
It is electronic cruise on the diesel and it works!

Learning to programme all the work I want to do on the car has built up my emotional attachment to it, that's for sure.
